Jan. 24, 2019 - Representing the Trump Administration were U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos and Secretary of the Treasury Steven Mnuchin.
Secretary DeVos spoke of "a disconnect between education and the economy," noting that "employer after employer reports that they cannot find enough qualified people to hire."  She said education is "the least disrupted industry in America" and called for a "rethink...to ensure nothing limits students from being prepared for what comes next."  prepared remarks
Secretary Mnuchin focused on opportunity zones, which were one of the provisions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017.  Mnuchin said opportunity zones will have "a real, positive impact for families and businesses across the country.  They will help revitalize distressed communities, generate momentum where it is needed, create jobs, and ensure that more families will share in our overall economic success."
