Secretary of State
Notes: Sen. Mike Crapo (R), first elected in 1998, easily won a third term, defeating businessman and investor Tom Sulllivan (D) of Tetonia and Randy Lynn Bergquist of Fruitland (C). The May 25 primaries were lopsided; Crapo won with 79.3% of the vote and Sullivan with 74.7%. In the general election, Crapo and Sullivan debated on Oct. 12, broadcast by Idaho Public Television; and on Oct. 19, broadcast by KTVB7. The race was financially noncompetitive. Open Secrets reports the Crapo campaign spent $3.4 million and finished with cash on hand of $3.0 million compared to less than $100,000 spent by the Sullivan campaign (>). See also: Emma Breysse.
