Mike knows that we cannot grow the economy by growing government. He is a proven leader in the fight to reduce taxes, cut spending and balance the federal budget. He supports sound fiscal policy, voting against the Bush and Obama stimulus packages, government bailouts, and the Obama health care reform bill.
His reputation on fiscal issues has earned him an appointment to the National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform.

Getting the Job Done for Idaho
 
Mike is a strong voice for Idaho. As a member of both the Senate Finance and Banking Committees, Mike consistently fights for increasing the availability of credit to Idaho businesses and reducing burdensome and unnecessary regulations on business. Mike works effectively to open international markets to Idaho's agricultural products; ensures Idaho's technology industry competes on a level international playing field; leads the charge to create jobs and get Idahoans back to work; and is among the most powerful voices for a renewed focus on nuclear energy, to name just a few.

In 2009, an eight-year collaborative effort led by Mike and a team of collaborators culminated when the Owyhee Initiative became law. Mike strongly supports our military, has been with Idaho soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq, and is heavily involved in efforts to bring the F-35 Mission to Idaho. Mike's commonsense, collaborative style and engagement in Idaho issues make him a strong, effective leader for Idaho and America.
