Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D), first elected in the Nov. 3, 1992 special election, was re-elected to a fourth full term, defeating Elizabeth Emken (R), whose experience includes vice president for government relations at Autism Speaks.  Feinstein and Emken advanced from the June 5, 2012 blanket primary, where two dozen candidates were on the ballot.  Feinstein finished first with 49.3% of the vote.  Emken, who received the endorsement of the California Republican Party in March, finished second with 12.6%.  Feinstein refused to debate Emken (>).  According to Open Secrets (>), the Feinstein campaign spent $12.2 million to $910,209 for the Emken campaign.
