HAVE YOU BEEN LET DOWN?
CAN WE DO BETTER?
ISN'T IT TIME TO BELIEVE IN WISCONSIN AGAIN?

BELIEVE IN WISCONSIN AGAIN!
A Wisconsin CENTERED LIFE

Scott Walker grew up in Delavan where he was instilled with the small-town values that remain with him today.

Scott lives in Wauwatosa with his wife, Tonette, and their two boys, Matt and Alex. Scott currently serves as Milwaukee County Executive.

SCOTT WALKER'S Priorities
Bring back prosperity and serve the families and taxpayers of Wisconsin

• Lower the tax burden on families

• Restructure and streamline government

• Require greater transparency in government budgeting and contracting

• Offer tax incentives for new and expanding businesses

• Allow more parental control of education

• Enact patient-centered healthcare reform

• Reduce mandates on employers

• Renew public/private partnerships for job creation

SCOTT WALKER'S Record AS COUNTY EXECUTIVE
Government Spending Under Control
Scott Walker understands that people are hurting in Wisconsin.
He also understands that high taxes—brought on by excessive government spending—are forcing more people and more jobs to move out of the state.

Balanced Budget and No More Tax Increases
With the state facing a $6 billion budget shortfall, Governor Jim Doyle and Lt. Governor Barbara Lawton signed into law over $3 billion in new tax increases to balance the budget while increasing spending by over 6%. Under Scott's leadership, Milwaukee County finished the 2008 budget with a small surplus because Scott made the tough decisions demanded by taxpayers.

A Record of Fiscal Responsibility and Know How
In September, Scott presented his eighth consecutive budget with no increase in the property tax levy, thanks to a heavy focus on reducing costs by contracting out programs through the private sector.

Walker for Sportsmen

ScottWalker.org

Our Governor must become the steward of the trust between sportsmen and the Department of Natural Resources that manages our fish and game.

Our deer hunting traditions need to be restored by ending failed policies like T-zones, Earn-A-Buck and our CWD program so we can focus on bringing back a healthy deer herd.

Our policy leaders must use simplicity in the drafting of hunting and fishing regulations so law abiding citizens can hunt, fish and trap without fear of breaking the law.
The core values of accessibility, simplicity and accountability will guide the policies that I, or my appointees to the DNR and Natural Resources Board, implement.  Wisconsin's historic tradition of hunting, fishing and trapping is about families and quality of life. I want to be a governor who is not just a supporter, but is an advocate for hunters, fishermen and trappers.

Scott Walker For Wisconsin Sportsmen

An Agenda for Reforming the Department of Natural Resources

  • Create a culture of accountability for all DNR staff to the sportsmen they serve.
  • Appoint a Natural Resources Board that reflects Wisconsin's strong hunting, fishing and trapping traditions.
  • Stewardship lands remain open and accessible for everyone to hunt, fish and trap.
  • Establish a healthy deer herd for us to hunt now and for future generations.
  • Madison must recognize that our Chronic Wasting Disease efforts are not working and evaluate strategies to control the disease. Wisconsin must manage its own wolf population rather than bureaucrats in Washington, DC.
  • Focus DNR staff, resources and funding to manage our lakes, rivers and streams for the best fishing possible to the majority of the fishermen. All legal methods of trapping should be respected by the DNR.

Second Amendment Rights

  • Firearm ownership is a pre-existing fundamental and individual right protected in both the United States and Wisconsin Constitutions.
  • I will sign a strong "shall issue" concealed carry law as Governor.
  • I support citizens' rights to protect themselves in their own homes and anywhere they have a legal right to be by adopting a strong Castle Doctrine law.

DAIRY
It's a $20.6 billion industry employing 160,000 people...

And its a major part of Scott Walker's plan to revitalize Wisconsin's economy.

"I believe the first priority of our Governor is to ensure that the state is doing everything possible to foster job growth and a strong economy. The dairy industry and Wisconsin farmers are among the most important components of that economy."
—Scott Walker

SPECIFICALLY SCOTT WALKER WILL SUPPORT:

Right to Farm Laws

We need to protect our agriculture industry against frivolous lawsuits that will force farmers out of business.

Tax Fairness for Farmland
Continuation of our Use Value Assessment preserves over 16 million acres of farmland from development and ensures the legacy of the Wisconsin Family Farmer lives on.

Re-Invest in Modern Farms
Agriculture is the backbone of Wisconsin's economy and our state needs to provide farmers and agribusiness with tax credits allowing them to invest in cutting edge technology.
