Fair and Affordable Solutions for Rhode Island
MORE JOBS:
We must create a job-friendly environment where businesses can create the jobs Rhode Islanders need.
• Lessen the tax burden for individuals and businesses
• Streamline permitting and regulations
• Support and retain existing Rhode Island small businesses
• Facilitate access to capital for Rhode Island businesses
LESS GOVERNMENT SPENDING:
Just as RI families have had to cut back and live within their means, state government must also learn to live within its means.
• Institute an immediate spending freeze and cut wasteful government programs in order to balance the budget
• Reform the public employee pension system
• Renegotiate union contracts to make them fair and affordable
• Reevaluate all social service programs to ensure they are effectively helping those in need
EASE THE TAX BURDEN:
We pay too much in taxes – it's hurting our families and squeezing our businesses. Let's keep our small businesses, seniors and our Veterans in Rhode Island.
• Cap local property tax increases at 2.5% per year through a constitutional amendment
• Exempt all military pensions from state income tax
• Begin a 10-year plan to exempt the first $50K in retirement income for seniors over the age of 65 from state income tax
• Eliminate the capital gains tax
• Eliminate the minimum income tax for small business
