Maine's REAL Independent Choice for Governor
- Real business success.
- Real understanding of Maine people.
- Real Independent - since 1978.
About Shawn Moody
At the age of 17, Shawn Moody
borrowed $6,000 and opened a one-man body shop in
his hometown of Gorham, Maine.
Shawn also acquired "Gorham Auto
Parts" in 1988. He transformed that "junkyard" into
the largest auto recycling facility in ME, NH and
VT. It was sold in 1999 to LKQ Corp., which has gone
on to become the largest auto recycler in the
country with a market cap of over $3 billion
dollars.
Starting in 2000 Shawn focused on
growing Moody's Collision Centers; within ten years
Moody's has become the largest auto collision repair
business in New England with five locations and more
in the works. Moody's team of 75 co-workers (who
share in the company's success through an Employee
Stock Ownership Plan) takes care of more than 7,000
customers each year. The company's record of
customer service and operating performance is in the
top 1 % of 40,000 shops nationwide.
Shawn is sole member of "Real Estate
Holdings." Founded in 2003, the firm has been the
general contractor of construction projects in five
Maine communities. Having gone through the land
acquisition process, local planning board approval
and DEP site location permitting, Shawn knows first
hand the challenges businesses face in today's
regulatory climate.
While building the business, Shawn
never lost track of what is most important to him –
his family. Shawn and his wife, Chris, still live in
Gorham where they've raised four children.
When asked about his success,
Shawn answers, "It's simple. It all comes down to
taking care of people.'"
Shawn Moody on the
Issues
Economy
Small business is the backbone of this state. A
Moody administration will set the "pro-business"
tone on day one. We will focus our resources to
re-ignite Maine's economy and restore pride in our
old adage, "As Maine goes, so goes the nation."
Education
Maine's 20-25% dropout rate is unacceptable. Think
of the social and economic impact of allowing one in
four of our young adults to fail. Maine's
educational system needs to refocus on student and
educator growth and development because in the end,
that's what really matters.
Energy
Like most complex problems, there isn't one "magic"
solution to our energy needs. Let's talk about
conservation first, and then we'll get into
generation. Promoting educational and incentive
programs like those offered by Efficiency Maine will
reduce our demand. Our great state has an abundance
of natural resources – wind, hydro, tidal, bio, sun,
and other resources such as methane gas generated
from our landfills. Maine people embrace the idea of
reducing our dependence on foreign oil; we now need
to deliver on it.
Health Care
More than ever, we need to get our health care house
in order. We will do so by increasing health care
industry competition, which will provide more choice
and reduce costs. We will also pay our bills in a
timely fashion and provide transparency so consumers
see the itemized cost of care.
"It's time for working people to
take the lead. It's not about you or me. It's
about us, our state; it's about Maine."

Why Shawn Moody?
It's time to clear our heads, reset
our priorities and get back to work.
How many times have we heard "small
business is the backbone of our country?" I truly
believe that. Small business represents 90% of the
businesses in Maine and will play a vital role in
creating and retaining the jobs we most desperately
need to grow.
Consumer confidence directly
correlates with consumer spending. You don't hear as
much about business confidence, but the same holds
true. When elected, I will start restoring business
confidence on day one. You can trust that I'll work
hard to remove the obstacles standing in the way of
Maine's growth and prosperity.
The reason I'm running for Governor
of the great State of Maine is I truly believe that
with my life experience and track record of success,
I am the best man for the job! Please join that
commitment to step up and change our course.
The time has come for us to take
responsibility for our future. We need your help.
Please join us.
We've tried it their way; now
let's try it our way!
