Like H. G. Wells, I'm also a futurist. I'm going to show you my cards, show you how the game is played, and I'II play with an open deck throughout my term. By the time I leave office, these will be the new rules. I'm an urban designer, a builder, and a policy analyst who knows intimately how our system works. I'm not your ordinary candidate. I'm not rich. There are no corporate sponsors, no vast networks of political connections, and I have never run for elected office. In the past, all of these things would have been essential to winning-even though these conditions are completely irrelevant to things that really matter for voters. Today, thanks to the Internet and a growing team of volunteers, I'm taking the issues directly to the people who are supposed to matter. Now, more than ever, the voters are equipped to judge for themselves who will best serve their interests.

Democrats, Republicans, Independents, Libertarians, and Greens are supporting Michael because he represents a new kind of politics. For Michael, principles come before party, reason comes before doctrine, and the highest good for the greatest number comes before politics-as-usual.

Michael E. Arth founded the New Pedestrianism urban planning movement in 1999. It represents the smartest kind of Smart Growth, and the greenest form of green building. Michael is also a well-known artist. A large format book of his art, Michael E. Arth: Introspective 1972-1982, was published in 1983. An award­winning documentary feature film, New Urban Cowboy: Toward a New Pedestrian­ism, about his work as an urban designer and policy analyst, was released in 2008. A two­ volume book in which Michael takes on the world's problems, The Labors of Hercules: Modern Solutions to 12 Herculean Problems, is being published in 2009.
