CALIFORNIA
    Nov. 2, 2010 Governor

Brochure, 7 3/4" x 8 1/4".

CREATE JOBS. CUT SPENDING. FIX EDUCATION.

MEG WHITMAN.

INTEGRITY.

To know Meg, you need to know her mother – an intrepid spirit who overhauled jeep and airplane engines during World War II and instilled in Meg the importance of integrity, conviction, hard work and perseverance ...
Meg and her husband, Griff, met in college and planted their roots in California, where they raised their two sons.

Meg attended public school from kindergarten through the 12th grade.

REBUILDING THE DREAM.

"I know restoring California will not be easy. It will take time to uproot old habits. But we all love California too much to let it fail. Let's rebuild the dream. Let's start to create jobs again. Let's treat education like the priority it needs to be. Let's bring taxes in line with what hard-working Californians can afford, not what government demands. Let's rebuild California to what it should be – the place of our dreams."

– Meg Whitman

MEG WHITMAN.

DETERMINED LEADERSHIP.

When Meg Whitman joined a little company in Silicon Valley, she was one of the few who saw the potential of eBay.

Meg followed her heart, took a career risk and, using her experience at Disney, Hasbro, and Procter & Gamble, grew eBay from a 30-employee start-up into a global leader in business with 15,000 employees. She also helped thousands of small businesses get started online.

How'd she do it?
VISION.

MEG 2010.
A NEW CALIFORNIA.

CREATE JOBS.
"If I'm elected, I will look at everything through this lens: does it help create more and better-paying jobs for Californians?"

As Governor, I will:

• Create at least two million private-sector jobs by 2015

• Cut taxes to give businesses the incentive to invest, expand and hire more workers in California

• Streamline regulations and modify workplace rules to ensure California is more competitive than other states

Revitalize manufacturing and create new industries around clean technology

CUT SPENDING.
"We can never again allow California to be on the brink of bankruptcy."

As Governor, I will:
Identify and implement at least $15 billion in spending cuts from the state budget

• Reduce the overall state workforce by 40,000

• Establish a sunset commission that reports directly to me to review the relevancy of departments and regulations

• Use the veto pen to reduce and control the size of government and burdensome regulations

FIX EDUCATION.
"It's time California schools make the grade. "

• Grade each school A to F so parents can go online and easily determine how well their schools are doing

• Give control of the schools back to parents, principals and teachers

• Demand accountability when schools repeatedly fail their students

• Expand charter schools to give parents and students more choice

"The next Governor must have a spine of steel, know what she believes, and stick with it."

As the state flower, the California poppy represents all that Meg values about California: prosperity, renewal, unity. From Lake Tahoe to the Central Valley, poppies are everywhere and represent the promise of A New California.

Early settlers saw poppy-covered hills and knew they had found the Golden State. It is time to recapture that excitement again.

Building a New California

Meg Whitman's Policy Agenda

FROM MEG WHITMAN

Building A New California

Dear Fellow Californian,

Thank you for taking a few moments to learn more about  my ideas for building A New California. I appreciate your interest in my campaign and hope my policy agenda will provide you with a better understanding of the type of governor I hope to be.

This is a very difficult time in our state's history, but I am still optimistic about California's future. Ronald Reagan once said that America is too great for small dreams. The same is true for our Golden State.

I am running for governor because I believe everything is still possible in California. But to restore the promise of our state, we must first clean up the mess in Sacramento. We have to be honest about our problems, offer grown-up solutions and put an end to the partisan bickering and hand-wringing that is business as usual.

My campaign is focused on three primary goals:

I am running to reinvigorate California's economic potential and help employers create two million new jobs by the beginning of 2015.

I am running to rid our state government of waste, duplication and inefficiency so we can get control of runaway spending and create long-term fiscal stability.

I am running to fix our failing schools so we can give our children the opportunity to advance up the economic ladder and achieve their fullest potential.

If you have ideas on how we can move California forward, please contact our campaign. We will listen. We want this campaign to be special, one that addresses your concerns and speaks to your hopes for what A New California can be.

Sincerely,

Meg Whitman

CREATING JOBS
FOR A NEW CALIFORNIA

FROM MEG WHITMAN

Creating Jobs For A New California

Dear Fellow Californian,

Thank you for taking a few moments to learn more about  my ideas for building A New California. I appreciate your interest in my campaign and hope my jobs plan will provide you with a better understanding of the type of governor I hope to be - one focused on putting Californians back to work.

California faces one of the most challenging times in our state's history. Because of the unfriendly business environment, along with some of the highest tax rates in the nation, families and businesses are being forced to make unthinkable trade-offs, including leaving the state they love. But I am optimistic about California's future.

I am running for governor because I believe everything is still possible in California. That is why as governor, creating jobs will be my top priority.
It is the only way we are going to clean up the mess in Sacramento. I have the unique skill set and the detailed plan to get California going again.

At eBay, I grew a startup with 30 employees and $4.7 million in revenue
to a Fortune 500 company with 15,000 employees and nearly $8 billion in revenue. I am the only candidate who has created the conditions for tens of thousands of small businesses and individual entrepreneurs to grow a business and thrive. I think Sacramento needs a little bit more of a business-like attitude.

We have to be honest about our problems, offer grown-up solutions and put an end to the partisan bickering and hand-wringing that is business as usual.

I am running to reinvigorate California's economic potential. In the following pages, I have laid out my road map to create two million new private-sector jobs by the beginning of 2015.

If you have ideas on how we can move California forward, please contact our campaign. We will listen. We want this campaign to be special, one that addresses your concerns and speaks to your hopes for what A New California can be.

Together, we can put California back to work and make our state great again.

Sincerely,

Meg Whitman

MEG 2010

CREAR EMPLEOS
MEJORAR NUESTRAS ESCUELAS

CONSTRUIR UNA NUEVA CALIFORNIA

DE PARTE DE MEG WHITMAN

Construir una Nueva California

Estimados californianos:

Atentamente,

Meg Whitman
