Mike Beebe Believes in Arkansas

Governor Mike Beebe has dedicated nearly three decades of his life to serving the people of Arkansas. From state senator to attorney general and now governor, he has remained focused on creating jobs, balancing budgets while cutting taxes, and making sure Arkansas schools provide a world-class education to our children.

Mike Beebe was raised by a single mother on the tips she made as a waitress. She taught him the value of hard work and the importance of a strong education. As Governor, he made these values the cornerstone of his administration. Arkansas is ranked 10th in the nation in public schools by Education Week. Even as a national economic crisis has gripped the state, nearly 25,000 new jobs have been announced in Arkansas. Arkansans benefited from the largest tax relief in state history, with Beebe cutting the state sales tax on groceries by two-thirds and reducing property taxes through the Homestead Property Tax Credit.

Mike Beebe is running for Governor because he believes that there is still more work to be done. Over the next four years, he wants to complete the phase out of the sales tax on groceries, continue to invest in job growth and economic development for Arkansas, and push our public schools forward on the path to excellence.

Believe in Arkansas
, more than ever.

Mike Beebe: Promises Kept
As Governor, Mike Beebe has kept the promises he made when he ran for office.

Promised to bring in new business and jobs.
Despite the national recession, Governor Beebe has announced nearly 25,000 new jobs using his quick-action closing fund and other incentives.

Promised to lead by example.
As Governor, Mike Beebe refused to accept pay raises that he was given by the legislature.

Promised to cut the grocery tax and eliminate it with a phase-out.
The statewide sales tax on groceries has already been cut from 6 cents to 2 cents, making it the largest tax cut in Arkansas history. Beebe wants to complete the phase-out.

Promised to increase average family income.
Arkansas' ranking in family income has improved, and per-capita income in Arkansas is up 14.3% in the past three years compared to only 8.1% for the nation as a whole during that same time period.

Promised to manage the state's resources with sound fiscal and tax policies, to expand the economy, and to create better-paying jobs.
The state sales tax on energy used by manufacturers was cut from 6% to 3.25%, and property taxes were cut with the expansion of the state Homestead Property Tax Credit.

Promised to improve education.
In the last three years, the state has expanded pre-K programs and strengthened public schools. Arkansas is ranked 10th in the nation in public schools by Education Week.

Believe in Arkansas. Believe in a Governor Who Keeps His Promises.

BELIEVE IN ARKANSAS

NOW MORE THAN EVER

WHAT'S RIGHT FOR ARKANSAS
"I believe in Arkansas, and I believe that, together, we can build a brighter future for ourselves and our children. My work for Arkansas families will always be focused on improving our economy, strengthening our schools and protecting your tax dollars."

CREATING JOBS, GROWING INCOMES
Governor Beebe has led our state through the worst national economy since the Great Depression. Under his leadership, 25,000 new jobs have been announced. Governor Beebe also created the $50 million Quick Action Closing Fund to bring new jobs to Arkansas and help keep existing businesses here.

STRONG SCHOOLS FOR A STRONGER ECONOMY
Believing a good education leads to job creation, Governor Beebe expanded Arkansas's successful Pre-K program, made major investments in our public schools and is putting college in reach for more Arkansas students. We are seeing results. Arkansas is ranked 10th in the nation in overall public education.

BALANCING BUDGETS, CUTTING TAXES
A fiscal conservative, Governor Beebe has balanced the budget every year. Arkansas is now one of four states without a projected budget shortfall. He also delivered on his promise for tax relief, cutting the grocery tax twice – the largest tax cut in state history – and lowering property taxes by increasing the homestead property tax credit.
