SEAN PARNELL
 
Alaska's tenth governor is bringing state spending under control by reducing agency budget requests and vetoing budget breaking projects. He has launched major initiatives to establish merit based scholarships, end Alaska's epidemic of domestic violence, develop renewable energy alternatives, and move forward on gasline projects.

An attorney, Sean Parnell was elected to the Alaska House of Representatives in
1992 and 1994 and to the State Senate in 1996. He served as Co-Chair of the Senate Finance Committee when oil was $9 per barrel and played a key leadership role in writing a budget that reduced state spending while meeting the needs of Alaskans. He did not seek reelection in 2000. Sean Parnell was elected as Alaska's lieutenant governor in 2006 and was sworn in as governor on July 26, 2009.

Sean and Sandy Parnell were married in 1987 and have two daughters.
 

MEAD TREADWELL
 
A respected business and civic leader, Mead Treadwell has founded successful high technology companies that developed the digital watermarking system that protects world currencies and DVDs from counterfeiting and introduced the high tech camera that launched Google's Streetview. Along with former governors Wally Hickel and Bill Egan, he was a founder of the Yukon Pacific Corporation which started the all Alaska gas pipeline project.

Mead Treadwell directed Cordova's oil spill response during the Exxon Valdez crisis and served as Deputy Director of the Department of Environment Conservation in Governor Hickel's second administration. President George
W. Bush appointed him as a member and chair of the United States Arctic Research Commission. As Managing Director of the Institute of the North, he led successful efforts to bring missile defense to Alaska, support our fisheries, and expand Arctic cooperation.

He is the widowed father of three teenagers.

* Fighting for Resource Development
Changing oil and gas taxes to incentivize investment and Alaska jobs; building Alaska's gasline through every available option; creating new job opportunities in mining, timber, fisheries, and tourism; developing our workforce for resource development jobs.

* Fighting the Feds
Joined nineteen other states in a lawsuit to overturn the Obama Administration's unconstitutional "Obamacare". Sued the Department of the Interior to block its illegal moratorium on oil exploration on the Outer Continental Shelf. Intervened to stop lawsuits that would lock up the Tongass National Forest and kill Alaska jobs.

* Fighting Taxes and Government Growth
Reduced the cruise ship head tax to bring more visitors and feed more customers to Alaska's small businesses. Vetoed hundreds of millions in government spending, saving millions for Alaska's future.

* Fighting for Rural Alaska
Established the Alaska Energy Pathway to move rural villages away from diesel toward renewable energy and the Fuel Watch Program to protect against fuel shortages. Improved rural public safety by hiring more VPSOs, supported rural school construction, and joined with villages in unleashing hope where despair turns to suicide.

* Fighting for Alaska Families
Established Afaska Performance Scholarship to provide incentives for every Alaska student to earn education scholarships at in-state universities and job training programs. Initiated a comprehensive approach to end the epidemic of domestic violence and sexual assault in Alaska in ten years [Choose Respect Campaign].

* Fighting for our Military
Created the Alaska Military Force Advocacy Structure Team to retain and build upon Alaska's current military force capabilities. Pushing for more resources for Alaska's missile defense mission, U.S. Coast Guard operations, and veterans' programs.
