Notes: In a close race Gov. John Hickenlooper (D) won a second term, defeating former U.S. Rep. Bob Beauprez (R) and four other candidates. Beauprez emerged as the winner of the competitive four-way June 24 Republican primary. He was making his second bid for governor; in 2006 he was the Republican nominee, losing to Bill Ritter (D). He previously served two terms in the U.S. House (elected in 2002 and 2004) representing the 7th CD, and was chair of the Colorado Republican Party from 1999-2002. Second was former U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo, also making his second run for governor; in Nov. 2010, as the nominee of the American Constitution Party he finished second to Hickenlooper with 36.5% of the vote. Secretary of State Scott Gessler finished third, and former Senate Minority Leader Mike Kopp rounded out the field. Results were Beauprez 116,333 (30.24%), former U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo 102,830 (26.73%), Scott Gessler 89,213 (23.19%), and Mike Kopp 76,373 (19.85%). Hickenlooper was unopposed in the Democratic primary. On July 2 Beauprez announced Douglas Co.
