 CO Secretary of State

Notes:
Sen. Michael Bennet (D), appointed to the Senate in 2009 and elected in 2010, defeated El Paso county commissioner Darryl Glenn (R) in what proved to be a fairly close race

A field of five candidates ran in the June 28 Republican primary (>).  Glenn was the surprise winner at 37.7%, followed by two well funded candidates.  Jack Graham, who served as CSU athletic director after a business career, finished second with 24.6%.  Businessman Robert Blaha, who had also run for Congress in 2012, obtained 16.5%.  Rounding out the field were State Rep. Jon Keyser (12.5%) and Ryan Frazier (8.7%).  Bennet was unopposed for the Democratic nomination.

In the general election there was one televised debate between the two major candidates, on Oct. 11 at the History Colorado building in Denver (>).

According to the FEC, f
or 2015-16 the Bennet campaign reported disbursements of $16.2 million compared to $4.0 million for the Glenn campaign; the Libertarian and Green campaigns each spent slightly less than $20,000 (>).
