Nov. 10, 2017 - A small group of protesters organized by Americans for Tax Fairness gathered in front of the U.S. Commerce Department to protest the Republican tax plan which is rapidly being pushed through Congress. Speakers argued that the plan "will hurt American workers and allow banks and corporations to avoid paying their fair share of taxes." Additionally, following recent release of the Paradise Papers, they called on Congress "to investigate how corporations and billionaires use offshore loopholes to dodge taxes." |
Speakers included Gary Kalman,
executive director of the Financial Accountability and Corporate
Transparency (FACT) Coalition. The FACT Coalition has focused its
criticism on provisions of the legislation that encourage multinational
corporations to shift jobs and profits offshore. |
