The
House-Senate
tax
reform
conference
committee
(+)
held
its first
meeting, marking another major step in congressional Republicans' push
to get the far-reaching Tax Cuts and Jobs Act to President
Trump by Christmas. Conference chairman Rep. Kevin Brady (R-TX)
kept a tight rein on the proceedings, leading to many testy exchanges
with Democrats, who argued the committee was little more than a
Republican-run show. Indeed, at the time of this meeting there
was not a bill to discuss, and the negotiating was all being done
behind the scenes among Republicans. The committee includes 15
Senators (8
Republicans and 7 Democrats) and 14 Representatives (9 Republican and 5
Democrats). [C-SPAN
