Sept. 5, 2021 - At a Labor Day weekend barbeque, Gov. Gavin Newsom addressed several hundred labor leaders and workers, part of his intense effort  to rally the "No" vote in the recall campaign in the ten days leading up to Sept. 14.  Many area political leaders also attended the event, held in the parking lot of the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO.  The Federation has been active in support of Newsom, spending $2 million, making over 550,000 phone calls and knocking on over 60,000 doors thus far.  Newsom started the day at an event with Asian and Pacific Islander leaders in Los Angeles' Chinatown and conculded at a rally with Sen. Amy Klobuchar (MN) in Santa Ana.

Sen. Maria Elena Durazo presented Newsom with a gift, but the former San Francisco mayor declined to don the cap.
