The campaign team put up two
large photos from 2011 of then-San Francisco
Mayor Gavin Newsom and George Gasc
ón, the man he appointed as San Francisco
District Attorney. Tania Owen likened
Gascón to Frankenstein and Newsom to the
monster's creator. In 2020 Gascón was
elected Los Angeles County District
Attorney, and he is facing a recall
campaign. Organizers need to gather
about 580,000 signatures over 160 days (May
20-Oct. 27, 2021); among other venues they
have been collecting signatures at many
events held by Republican recall candidates.
