New Jersey Continues to be Driven by Uncontrolled Big Money

New Jersey – September 24, 2021 In a few days New Jersey will hold its 'Gubernatorial Debate.' Every four years, big money is the driving factor as to who may appear on the debate stage. The base line to appear in the debates is a political balance sheet of $490,000. These numbers are easy to achieve for candidates who support wealthy special interest groups - NJ unions, large corporations, politically-oriented non-profits seeking special favors or pet-project support in return. Candidates fighting corruption in politics and groups like New Directions who rely entirely on regular citizen's contributions and hard-working volunteers for campaign support are purposely silenced by special interest backed candidates and media guided by its self-serving agenda.

Polls show that the American public wants money out of politics, but year in and year out candidates not accepting or pandering to the corruption of big money donors are ignored and not invited to major debates. Last gubernatorial election season, the New Jersey Libertarian Party candidate and his campaign communications director directly asked one of the top pollsters why the Libertarian candidate was not included in polls or interviews. The answer was 'How much money have you collected?' In fact, this is a common question asked when party members speak with members of the press.

How does a candidate, who does not participate in special-interest candidate sponsorship reach the electorate? The way Gregg Mele has been doing it. Gregg just completed his second 21-county tour, visiting groups across the state and has been given a voice by the limited media outlets not bribed by political favor money. Big Money has ruined the political landscape of this country and specifically New Jersey. It's time to end the elitist, money-driven criteria for appearing on the debate stage and for election. All candidates who will be appearing on the New Jersey election ballot must be included on the debate stage. Gregg Mele will be on the ballot; he will receive a significant number of votes and will continue to fight against the special-interest money that is dictating the direction of New Jersey policy. Let's work together to keep special interest money out of politics and get politicians back to working in the best interests of the great state of New Jersey and all her residents.

NJDSC Chairman Releases Statement Celebrating Governor’s Victory Over Jack Ciattarelli at First Debate

TRENTON, NJ — New Jersey Democratic State Committee Chairman LeRoy J. Jones, Jr., is releasing the following statement on Governor Phil Murphy’s clear victory in tonight’s first gubernatorial debate:

“Governor Murphy made all New Jersey Democrats proud tonight by doing what he’s done since day one  — standing up for New Jersey values, fighting for working- and middle-class families, and refusing to allow the Trump-style extremism that Jack Ciattarelli represents take hold in our state. While Assemblyman Ciattarelli continues to embrace Trumpism, takes extreme policy positions that are far out of step with New Jersey, and engages in baseless personal attacks, Governor Murphy is doing the work needed to move our state forward. The contrast between Governor Murphy and Assemblyman Ciattarelli could not be more clear, and now it’s time for Democrats and all New Jerseyans to stand together and make sure we win this election and have our Governor’s back, just like he has ours.”

Ciattarelli Offered Leadership & Vision, Where Murphy Gave Excuses

Hugin: Ciattarelli "Proved Beyond a Doubt" he's the Winner in Tonight’s Debate

TRENTON – Tonight, Bob Hugin, Chairman of the New Jersey Republican Party, released the following statement in response to the first gubernatorial debate between embattled incumbent Governor Phil Murphy and businessman Jack Ciattarelli.

“Tonight Jack Ciattarelli proved beyond a doubt that he is best suited to lead our state forward with common-sense, authenticity, and a clear vision for how to bring tax relief and good-paying jobs back to New Jersey. Jack’s a born and bred Jersey guy who has raised a family, started a business and created jobs here, which will prove to be a welcome break from Phil Murphy, a radically out-of-touch Goldman Sachs socialist.

"Not only did Phil Murphy fail to take ownership of the scandals of serial harassment and mistreatment of female staffers that occurred under his watch, he also failed to take ownership of his overreaching, big-government agenda which has led to one of the worst unemployment rates in the nation, record-high taxes, and nearly 10,000 dead seniors and veterans due to his reckless decision to house COVID-patients with healthy nursing home residents.

"One thing was made abundantly clear tonight - the polls in this race are statistically tied because Jack Ciattarelli is the ideal leader for New jersey who is best suited to fix our state and finally get us moving in the right direction.”
