The two big parties serve only the capitalist class and its chase after profit. Working people have no big party of their own. But working people can build their own party, a party whose goal is to organize the forces of the working class together, to prepare for a common fight.

A Working Class Program To Combat the Crisis of Capitalism
We are caught in the grip of an economic system that creates inflation.

• For that one percent who live off of stock, inflation has been a bonanza. Millionaires became billionaires. Billionaires became ... zillionaires.
• For the rest of us, inflation is a disaster.

It is a system that cannot produce decent jobs for most young working people.

• For that one per cent who live off the wealth stolen from our labor, times couldn't be better. They gobbled up a bigger share of society's wealth than ever before.
• But new jobs are part-time or temporary or contract work – or full time only until the next layoff. They lack most benefits. Pensions are a dim memory of bygone days.

It is a system that enabled Covid to kill more than a million people in this country.

• Run by Democrats or Republicans, every government siphoned off public money that should have been used to serve the population. Public money went instead to private interests – corporations, banks and speculators – expanding their profit.
• Public health, which should have protected against Covid, suffered – just as did roads, dams, water and sewage systems, public transit, public lighting, education, and more.

There ARE Answers to lnflation

• Everyone's wages could be increased NOW. Let the minimum wage be set high enough to support a family of four comfortably.
• Wages could keep up with inflation. When prices go up, let wages go up an equal amount – immediately. Let pensions and Social Security go up – immediately.
• Take the money that companies give to wealthy stockholders – use it to increase our pay

There ARE Answers to Unemployment

• If companies say they have no openings, then let them slow down the pace of work to a reasonable one. That will provide more full-time jobs – and be better for everyone.
• If companies still say they can't hire all those without work, then let everyone work fewer hours, and the work be shared out with those who need it. That would create more jobs. No one's pay needs to be cut to provide jobs.
• There's wealth enough to create jobs AND raise wages. But it's hoarded right now by the capitalist class which stole it from our labor. We need to take it back.

No one will hand us jobs and wages and a healthy country. We have to fight for them.

• Working people have power – but only if we stand together as one class, ready to fight.
• Working people are essential. We make everything run. We know how everything works. Organized together, we can deal with our problems. We can change the world.

To fight, we need the full forces of our class, which is a powerful class – when it is united.

• But to unite our forces, we have to recognize the reality of all the vicious ways parts of our class are attacked, leaving us divided. We have to have each other's back.
• All of us have to confront the indignities and violence of racism against Black people; confront attacks on immigrants; oppose the blatant attacks on women's rights. All of us.

We won't change our situation with an election. But we can use this election to say there are people, tens of thousands of people, who agree with this program for the crisis.

Working People Need a Party Based on Our Own Class
That party does not exist today. Instead, there are two big parties, both serving the capitalist class and its chase after profit. But working people can build our own party, one that struggles to unite all our forces in a common fight. We refuse to let the bosses set us against each other by race and ethnic background, by sex, by citizenship, by age, by skill and education. We all work for our living.
We are proud to be part of the same class, the class that makes society run. 

Working Class Party
The candidates we put on the ballot in Maryland for the 2022 elections are workers who helped gather the signatures needed to recognize Working Class Party in Maryland. They are workers who have been active in their own work places.

Working Class Party is running David Harding for Governor of Maryland and Cathy White for Lieutenant Governor on November 8. Dave has lived and worked in Baltimore for many decades, as a steelworker, shipyard worker, and as a computer operator for the Maryland Department of Health. He has been active in two unions. Cathy has worked in many different jobs, babysitting and cleaning other people's homes, working in a pizza joint, a pet hotel, a nursing home, and a warehouse. She has worked at a photofinishing factory for the last 35 years.

They know what it means to work, to barely scrape by because wages don't cover what we need just to live. But they also have seen how much their own class is able to do when it organizes together.
A Working Class Program
to Deal with the Capitalist Crisis

To catch up with what we've lost to inflation: Everyone's wages must be increased – NOW. Minimum wage should be set high enough to support a family comfortably. There's wealth enough in this society to pay everyone a decent wage, including young people just starting out.

To keep pace with inflation: When prices go up, wages could go up an equal amount and IMMEDIATELY. When prices go up, pensions and Social Security should also go up – and IMMEDIATELY.

To get rid of all the unemployment, obvious and hidden: Share out the work among everyone who wants to work. We could all work fewer hours, and everyone could be paid a full, weekly check. The wealth our labor creates will more than pay for this.

To provide the services the population needs: Public money should be spent on systems serving everyone: schools, roads, bridges, public health and sanitation, water, sewers, transit, dams, parks, recreation centers, etc. The money is there, wasted today, propping up corporate profit, burned up in war. lt must be taken back, made to benefit everyone.

To determine what kind of life we will have: We have to find the wealth the bosses steal from our labor. We have to put our hands on the public money that is wasted. We can do that. We are in every company, every public service, every school – in the very center of the economy. Not only do workers make the economy run. As a class, we can decide how it should be run. And the working class has the power to make things run for the good of everyone.
