As a former Attorney General and a former Mayor, we don't just talk about problems. We have the executive experience to get things done.

PERSONAL FREEDOM: Doug spearheaded the statewide effort for Marriage Equality and will bring the same energy to protecting Women's reproductive freedom.

EDUCATION: Keep schools safe so teachers and students can focus on education and closing the COVID learning gap.

ENVIRONMENT: Fight climate change and protect the Bay, just like Doug did as Attorney General when he took on corporate polluters to secure historic settlements for clean air and clean water.

INFLATION: Keeping costs down helps keep crime down. Push for federal action to combat inflation and work to mitigate the effects for Marylanders.

ECONOMY: When communities are safe, people start businesses. When jobs are available, crime goes down.

MENTAL HEALTH ACCESS: Open mental health centers across the state because safety includes access to affordable mental health care for everyone.

 
In Baltimore, you have a better chance of getting away with murder than you do of getting caught.
That is going to change.
I have not seen Marylanders this concerned about crime since the Beltway Snipers. I am running for governor because crime is exploding across the state, and I will bring the same sense of urgency I brought to the Beltway Snipers to every violent act in Maryland.

The number one job of government is to keep people safe, and right now the government is failing at that job.

Making Maryland Safe Starts Now
 
  • 1,000 new local police officers
  • 10,000 street lights and cameras
  • Require police to be trained in how to de-escalate violent situations
  • Better trained and better paid police with more foot patrols
  • Fast-track funding for recreation centers, social services, and other community infrastructure in high crime areas
  • Fund School Resource Officers to ensure that our children and teachers are safe
  • Crack down on gun crime and go after gun traffickers who bring in guns from out of state
  • End the era of under-protection and over policing for Black Marylanders, and focus on violent crime

is running far governor to bring crime down and justice up. Gansler has 22 years of experience fighting crime – first as a federal prosecutor, then as Montgomery County State's Attorney, and finally as Attorney General. In addition to prosecuting sorne of the state's most high-profile cases, including the Beltway Sniper, Gansler has a record of launching innovative and successful programs to protect the public while instituting progressive reforms to the criminal justice system.

Former Mayor Candace Hollingsworth
was Hyattsville's youngest and first Black mayor. After a combined nine years of service on City Council and as mayor, Candace founded the national organization Our Black Party to wake folks up and fortify a change-making relationship between the Black community and the political system. As mayor, Candace focused on making Hyattsville a safe and just community through expanding education, economic opportunities and civic engagement far young people while supporting the long-term sustainability of her city.

DOUG GANSLER:
Ready on Day One

Doug Gansler has dedicated his life to standing úp for Marylanders, first as Montgomery County State's Attorney and then as Maryland Attorney General. In that role, he went after predatory lenders, polluters, and human traffickers to deliver justice under the law and protect all Marylanders.

As Attorney General, Doug stood up for Maryland families during a period of severe economic uncertainty. He got more than a billion dollars from the big banks to help Marylanders stay in their homes.

And Doug worked to deliver environmental justice, obtaining settlements when ExxonMobil released more than 25,000 gallons of gasoline into Maryland waters and securing $4.6 billion for air quality in the largest environmental settlement in American history.

As State's Attorney, he kept Maryland families safe by prosecuting sorne of the worst criminals, like the Beltway Snipers, while also implementing progressive criminal justice reforms.

Guided by his values, Doug was the first statewide elected official in Maryland history to spearhead marriage equality. He later received Equality Maryland's "Ally for Equality" award for support of LGBTQ+ rights.

He'II use his experience to help Maryland build back from the pandemic in a way that leaves no one behind. He's ready to do the job on day one because we don't have a minute to waste.
