Dr. Chris Jones grew up in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. A son of two preachers, Chris was raised with a strong sense of faith. He attended Morehouse College on a NASA Scholarship, for physics and math, then went on to study at MIT becoming a nuclear engineer and earning a Ph.D. in urban planning. After becoming ordained as a minister, Chris returned home to Arkansas and led the Arkansas Regional Innovation Hub. He is the husband to Dr. Jerrilyn D. Jones and proud father to three daughters.
 
As our Governor, Chris will:
 
  • Improve public education opportunities in every community
  • Strengthen infrastructure from roads to broadband access
  • Protect the right to vote for everyone
  • Bridge the rural and urban divide

"I'm a kid from Pine Bluff and a 7th Generation Arkansan. I grew up eating honeysuckle, fighting grasshoppers, and riding dirt bikes.

My ancestors labored in the soil of rural Arkansas. Now my three daughters are 8th generation Arkansans.

I was blessed to run the Arkansas Regional Innovation Hub, where we provided the tools and technology Arkansans needed to build businesses and create jobs. My wife is Dr. Jerrilyn Jones. She's an Air Force veteran and ER doctor. She's my partner and an incredible mother to our girls.
