ABOUT JOHN BEL EDWARDS
 
John Bel learned the importance of public service at an early age. His mother was a nurse in the charity hospital system, and his brother is currently sheriff in Tangipahoa Parish, following in the tradition of his father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point and served eight years as a U.S. Army Airborne Ranger, including command of a rifle company. He later went on to graduate law school from LSU.

John Bel and his wife, Donna, a former public school teacher, are members of the St. Helena Catholic Church in Amite.
