Meet Rebecca
After spending summers in the Boundary Waters as a teenager, Rebecca adopted Minnesota as her home state and attended Macalester College, where she met her husband Shawn.

The couple founded and built a 50-employee business which Rebecca ran. She later earned a Masters of Education from the U of M and taught public school science for five years, then left to be home with their son.

In 1995, concerned about climate change, the couple designed and built a renewable energy home with their own hands in rural May Township.

After their son entered public school, Rebecca turned her focus to community service. She served on a school district finance committee, then chaired a successful school levy campaign and was elected to school board in the conservative Forest Lake area.

Rebecca was then elected a OFL state representative in the same year Michele Bachmann took office as the district's Republican senator.

In 2006 she was elected State Auditor after unseating a Republican incumbent in the largest upset in 112 years.

A Record of Courageous Leadership
Rebecca Otto is a nationally respected leader who stands up for what's right-even when it's tough.

The only Constitutional Officer on the Executive Council to vote against copper-nickel mining leases until we require strong financial assurances to protect Minnesota taxpayers from clean up costs.

A fighter who has stood up time and again for the people and against attempts to run roughshod over the constitution, to privatize government, and to turn everything over to big corporations.

A leader who is willing to take on difficult issues and will go to the mat to protect the equal rights of all Minnesotans without sacrificing her positions for political expediency.

A State Auditor known for doing her work without fear or favor–not telling people what they want to hear, but what they need to know.

The Strongest Candidate for Governor

REBECCA HAS CARRIED MINNESOTA THREE TIMES. SHE'LL DO IT AGAIN IN 2018.

In the must-win 2018 election, we need a candidate who has won tough statewide races, with a proven base of popular support.

Rebecca defeated a high-profile Republican incumbent to become State Auditor in 2006, in one of the largest upsets in Minnesota history, for a traditionally Republican seat.

Rebecca's base turns out big when the going gets tough. She easily defeated a self-financed challenger in the 2014 primary by 81% to 19%, even though he outspent her 4 to 1.

The State Auditor's Office is a strong platform for winning the Governor's Office. In the recent past, two State Auditors have become Governor: Arne Carlson and Mark Dayton.

Rebecca appeals statewide because she bridges metro and rural Minnesota. She lives on a farm in a township on the edge of the metro. Farm Fest is held on her husband's great aunt and uncle's farm.

A Proven Statewide Winner

WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH, REBECCA OTTO GETS GOING.

In 2013, though warned it would cost her re-election, Rebecca Otto took a strong stand to protect taxpayers from copper mining cleanup costs.

In 2014, she exceeded Congressman Nolan's margin of victory in every county on the Iron Range and across the eighth congressional district.

Rebecca Otto also exceeded Governor Dayton's margin of victory in every congressional district in Minnesota.

Rebecca Otto has outperformed the margins of victory of every governor candidate she's been on the ballot with, DFL or Republican, outperforming in urban, suburban, and rural areas.
