It's Just Common Sense

Tennessee has a history of electing successful mayors who have gone on to be successful governors; that makes Karl Dean just right for the job.

Having managed the city of Nashville through the Great Recession and a historic flood and made it stronger in the end, Karl learned that problem-solving doesn’t begin with one person. It begins with all of us working together - the foundation of this campaign.

Karl believes in expanding Medicaid so rural hospitals have a chance to survive and we can fight the opioid crisis. His opponent does not. Karl believes in increasing funding for public education, while his opponent wants to take money away from our public schools and give it to private schools.

Karl is ready to lead with solutions fueled by common sense, not political parties.

Karl also has tested experience that his opponent can’t match. As Mayor of Nashville, Karl led the city to unprecedented economic prosperity that it still experiences today, helping create 70,000 jobs. He raised teacher pay and increased the public schools’ budget by almost 40%. At the same time, he kept taxes low and made significant investments in public infrastructure and public safety. He can bring those same opportunities to every Tennessean.

Karl knows it’s all connected. Tennessee’s best days are still ahead of us, but to get there we need to focus on giving families access to great public schools, good-paying jobs, and quality health care.
