Andria Tupola is a wife, mother of 2 daughters, Kamehameha Schools graduate, former music teacher at Leeward Community College with a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University and a Master’s from University of Hawai’i


•    Won State House race by 56%, unseating the Majority Floor Leader as first-time candidate in 2014.

•    Re-elected by 67% in 2016, making history as first Hawaiian/Samoan Minority Leader.

•    Voted ‘No’ to General Excise Tax Increase and proposed to cut Neighbor Islands out of the O’ahu Rail Tax

•    Held 41 town halls in only 4 years to address community needs and to formulate pro-active strategies at the meetings

•    Addressed Homelessness by serving in and assisting the 6 homeless shelters and 18 encampments in her district

•    Helped Businesses by hosting entrepreneur conferences and leading business district beautification projects.

•    Organized 13 community clean-ups, hauling over 50 tons  of trash and recycling over 50 abandoned cars

•    Inspired Improvement in Education by increasing early enrollment numbers, renovating severely neglected department of education facilities, and addressing youth domestic violence.

My vision is to build a Hawaii where more people can stay in this place they call home for generations to come.


HOUSING:  decrease the cost of living so families are housed
 
•    Decrease taxes and pension liability
•    Support local developers, local jobs, and reduced permitting time
•    Refocus the Department of Hawaiian Homelands on their purpose and increase housing production, efficiency, and service to beneficiaries


EDUCATION:  Improve quality of life by being a champion for education and underserved communities

 
•    Ensure equitable funding for all public school students including rural and charter schools
•    Retain and sustain our teachers through better salary, medical benefits, and classroom resources
•    Audit, evaluate and streamline Department of Education facilities, resources, and procedures


JOBS:  Create an atmosphere for local businesses to thrive so more people can stay in this place they call home for generations to come

 
•    Decrease corporate tax and unnecessary regulation
•    Increase capital and local partnerships
•    Work with local businesses and community colleges to create more vocational training and job placement
