On our side then. On our side now. Different. Like Oregon. Ron Wyden. Different from the start. When Ron Wyden graduated from law school, many of his classmates went to jobs at corporate law firms. Some went to Wall Street. Most made a very good living. Ron went in a different direction. When Ron saw that Oregon's elderly weren't getting the care and respect they deserved, he went to work running an organization that provided legal services for seniors. He cofounded the Oregon Grey Panthers. And he's been fighting for Oregonians and standing up for what's right ever since. Delivering Oregon Jobs As our U.S. Senator, Ron Wyden is rolling up his sleeves to fight for family wage jobs throughout Oregon. Ron helped bring Google to The Dalles, nanotechnology to Benton and Washington Counties and clean energy jobs to Eastern and Southern Oregon. He expanded green energy vocational programs to community colleges, opening the door to good jobs for the future. And Ron is making sure our veterans get the treatment they deserve, hosting job fairs to help our returning heroes get work. "Without
Senator Wyden, Google doesn't come to The Dalles. That's 200 jobs for a
community that really needed them!"
Our Strong Voice for Accountability In a town where the word integrity is sometimes treated like a punch line, Ron Wyden consistently stands up for what is right. ■ Ron stood up to two Presidents, saying NO to the $700 billion Wall Street bailout. ■ He was one of the only Senators to fight against taxpayer-funded bonuses to Wall Street and AIG executives. ■ He supported new ethics and accountability rules to end lobbyist-sponsored gifts and travel, and to make it harder for Members of Congress to hide earmarks they sponsor. ■ Ron is leading the fight to reduce defense budget waste and control the deficit. Putting Partisanship Aside to Get Results Nobody has a better record of reaching across party lines and the urban/rural divide, bringing Oregonians together in a way that is changing Oregon for the better. It's been a long time since Ron Wyden walked into that office to help the elderly. But he hasn't changed. He's still fighting for the kinds of changes our state and country need. And we need it now more than ever. For
decades, environmentalists and timber communities have been at war. Ron
Wyden brought both sides together to create a balanced plan that puts
people back to work in our forests, while protecting our natural
treasures."
