BRUCE BRALEY Bringing Small Town Values to Solve Problems and Get Things Done. WWW.BRUCEBRALEY.COM @TEAMBRALEY FACEBOOK.COM/BRUCEBRALEY MEET BRUCE BRALEY I grew up in small town Brooklyn, Iowa. My father enlisted in the Marine Corps during World War II when he was 17 years old and fought in the Battle of Iwo Jima. When he returned home, he met my mother at a Farm Bureau youth club meeting. My parents were both raised on farms in Iowa during the Great Depression. When I was 2, my father was injured at the grain elevator where he worked, so my mother went back to school to earn her teaching degree so she could help support the family. She is still substitute teaching today in Brooklyn, Iowa. I got my first job in the 3rd grade delivering newspapers and I've been working ever since to put myself through college (Iowa State) and law school (University of Iowa). I've done it all from building roads and bridges for the Poweshiek County Roads Department, truck driving, waiting tables, working as a janitor, farm work and tending bar. The values I learned from my family and from my small town community have stuck with me to this day. In 1983 I married my wife, Carolyn, and moved to Waterloo, where I worked as an attorney, representing people against some of the most powerful corporations in the world. I stood up for factory workers challenging unsafe company policies, for people who lost their jobs and pensions and represented small businesses struggling with government red tape. I worked hard to help those who needed a voice most, and that's what I've done in Congress. Carolyn and I have three children—Lisa, David, and Paul— and still live in Waterloo. Our kids all graduated from Waterloo West High School, where Carolyn works as a social studies teacher. "I grew up in Brooklyn, Iowa where my mom was a school teacher and my dad worked at a grain elevator. Growing up in a small town, I learned to value a hard day's work and to help a neighbor in need." – Bruce Braley

When It Comes to Helping Iowa's
Middle Class, BRUCE BRALEY Will Put Iowa First Growing up in a small town teaches valuable lessons. Lessons about hard work, integrity and making ends meet. Lessons that guide how I look at issues today and shape ideas to help Iowa's middle class succeed. As Iowa's next Senator, I will support policies that:
"Growing up in
a small town taught me the importance of
working together to get things done. It's
why I will work with anybody, from both
parties, to help Iowa's middle class get
ahead." – Bruce Braley
