Chris Coons (D), first elected in a special election in 2010 to fill the seat formerly held by Joe Biden, was elected to a full term.  Kevin Wade from New Castle, who runs his own engineering business, won the Sept. 9 Republican primary with 75.7% of the vote.  Wade was also the Republican U.S. Senate nominee in 2012, losing to Sen. Tom Carper.  Coons and Wade debated on Oct. 15 hosted by Delaware Public Media and the University of Delaware (>).
