 WORKING FOR YOU

Vote Tuesday, November 4

"The reason I'm running for Governor is pretty simple – I love Wisconsin. I'm a fourth-generation Wisconsinite – my great-grandparents were farmers, and my grandfather delivered mail to the house I live in today. We are a great state, with great people and we have so much potential.

"But we deserve better, a lot better. We deserve a better economy with more good-paying jobs, we deserve a stronger commitment to public education, and we deserve better leadership. We deserve leadership that brings us together, because that's how we do our best work.

"That's the Wisconsin way. Let's get to work. " - Mary Burke

MARY BURKE. GOVERNOR.
Because it shouldn't be so hard to get ahead.

The Trek from a small barn in Waterloo to 1,000 Wisconsin jobs.

Mary Burke helped her father grow Trek Bicycle, which began in a barn in Waterloo and now employs nearly 1,000 Wisconsinites, growing her division at Trek from $3 million to $50 million in sales annually. Trek now makes more bicycles in the U.S. than any other company. She knows more Wisconsin small businesses and more middle-class families can grow and succeed, even in a tough economy. Mary will use her business and education background to help rebuild the middle class, not give more breaks to those at the top who are doing just fine.

Governor Walker hasn't come close to creating the 250,000 jobs in the private sector that he promised. Instead, Wisconsin has fallen from 11th to 35th in job creation, dead last in the Midwest, because Walker's approach aims the breaks at the top and special interests.

Creating jobs with better schools, real job training, access to capital 1or Wisconsin small businesses.

For Mary Burke, rebuilding the Wisconsin economy starts with good schools that teach our kids the skills to compete with anyone in the world. It means job training programs that help workers fill the jobs employers have available right now and helping link small businesses to the capital they need to grow and add jobs.

Businesswoman Mary Burke
Governor Scott Walker

Record on Jobs
When Mary Burke was Commerce Secretary, Wisconsin had 57,000 more jobs than under Scott Walker, and the unemployment rate was 4.8%.
Dead last in private sector job creation in the Midwest, ranked 10th out of 10 states. [Q4 2010 to Q4 2013 Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages]

Middle-class Taxes

Will hold the line on middle-class truces and restore tax breaks for working families taken away by Governor Walker.
Skewed true cuts to high earners in hopes the benefits would trickle down while raising taxes on seniors and the poor. [Wisconsin Legislative Fiscal Bureau, 2013-2015 Budget Memo and State Tax and Fee Modifications Included in 2011 Wisconsin Act 32, 7/5/11]

Minimum Wage
Supports raising the minimum wage to $10.10 to help families make ends meet, raise consumer buying, and create jobs.
Opposes raising the minimum wage, forcing hardworking people to rely on government assistance. Calls efforts to raise the minimum wage "a political grandstanding stunt."
[Green Bay Press-Gazette, 1/24/14]

Education and Training for Good Jobs
Unlike Walker, Burke opposes spending millions on trucpayerfunded vouchers for private schools with no accountability and says the money should go to improve our public schools instead.
Slashed $800 million from public
education and cut 30% from
technical colleges.
[2011 Wisconsin Act 32, Department of Public Instructions survey of Wisconsin Association of School District Administrators]

[John Lehman Lt. Governor]

"Since inauguration in early 2011, Governor Walker, Lt. Governor Kleefisch, and the controlling Republican legislature have failed to provide constructive leadership for Wisconsin. Their policies have divided our people. They have degraded our public schools. They have run roughshod over local communities and the environment. They have systematically schemed to deny access to the ballot. They have mismanaged our financial resources. For of all their supposedly pro-business emphasis, they have failed in their job creation strategies. I am running for Lt. Governor because I have had enough of the extreme far-right agenda, and I know Wisconsin can do better. I'm proud to stand with Mary Burke as a clear, experienced alternative to four more years of the destructive Walker-Kleefisch administration."

[Susan Happ for Attorney General]
It's time to protect Wisconsin rights, not take them away. We should encourage people to vote, not make it harder for them to exercise their constitutional right to cast a ballot. We should ensure equal pay for equal work and protect a woman's right to make her own health care decisions.

Wisconsin deserves an Attorney General who will represent victims of crime and protect consumers and working families. As a prosecutor, small business owner and a mother, I will work to protect the rights of all of the people of Wisconsin and make our communities safer – it's what I did as District Attorney and it's what I'll do as Attorney General."
