Libertarians

It's about people!

The highest Libertarian ideal is liberty. The perfect form of liberty is self-ownership; this is to say that no one or any group of people has a higher right to your life than you do. Using this as the core principle, Libertarians say that government has three key purposes: to protect our lives, our rights, and our property.

Term limits for all elected offices in Maryland.
Right now, two thirds of our state – western Maryland and the Eastern Shore – feel that they don't count. We will never have a fair voice for all until we limit the power of long term politicians.

Reduce the state sales tax to 3%. Our current 6% state sales tax hurts the poor more than any other group and puts us at a disadvantage comparad to neighboring states that have lower sales taxes (Delaware has no sales tax).

Overhaul our tax system.
Taxes are a necessity; however, we are over taxed. There are over 45 different taxes and fees. You end up being charged for close to 45% of your total income. lf elected, Shawn Quinn will reduce many taxes and eliminate even more. The "rain tax," for example, will be on its way to the trash can. Great economics means keeping more money in the hands of the people and less in the government's pocket.

Treat marijuana the way we treat wine.

What you put in your body is nobody's business but your own, as long as you do not harm anyone. Shawn Quinn will legalize marijuana and treat it the same way we treat alcohol. This will free up millions of dollars that are being wasted with no positiva results, emptying prison beds to make room for violent offenders. We must stop destroying young people's lives by arresting them on felony charges for smoking a weed.

Restore our freedoms.

The Quinn-Gaztañaga team is working to restore all of the freedoms enumerated in the Declaration of lndependence and the Bill of Rights so that people can live their lives without government interference. The founding fathers wrote these rights into the Constitution to protect us from an overreaching government. Each and every right is sacred and must be protected.

Vote Quinn-Gaztañaga in November.

You hold the power in your hands. lf you are truly happy with your government, then vote for the same thing again. On the other hand, if you are fed with what the two party agenda government has given you time and again, then take a chance on us.

lt's about people – it's about you!

Shawn Quinn
Shawn possesses 20 years of military experience, 7 years of health and safety experience with the American Red Cross, 5 years of law enforcement experience with the City of Newport News and 5 years' experience as a hazardous material truck driver.

Shawn is passionate about saving the U.S. Constitution from government destruction, implementing term limits and reducing taxation. In addition, he continually seeks to gain an office to reduce the size and abuse of our large government. Shawn ran as a Libertarian for a seat in the House of Delegates in 2010.

Lorenzo Gaztañaga
Born in Havana, Cuba on August 3, 1949, Lorenzo Gaztañaga came to the United States with his family in 1961, locating in Baltimore in June 1963 after a brief sojourn in Miami.

He is currently working in the security business to support his activities as a citizen politician. A Maryland Libertarian Party officer, he worked with the Coalition for a Democratic Maryland and Marylanders for Democracy during the nineties to ease the stringent ballet access requirements that have effectively kept independent and third party candidates off the ballet for the last 30 years.
