John Bel Edwards is a born leader.

Whether quarterbacking the Amite High School football team, commanding a rifle company in the 82nd Airborne Division, serving as a lector at St. Helena Catholic Church, or unifying Republicans and Democrats on issues that matter most to Louisiana families and businesses, John Bel has always been out front leading the charge.
 
A graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, John Bel served eight years in the Army as an Airborne Ranger. After his service to our country he returned to his hometown of Amite with his wife Donna, a public school teacher, to raise their three children.

A pro-life, pro-Second Amendment Christian, he was elected to the Louisiana House of Representatives in 2007. John Bel quickly earned the reputation of a leader who fights for working families and small businesses, proudly stands up to Governor Jindal and special interest groups, and is able to reach across party lines to build diverse coalitions.

As Louisiana faces some of the greatest challenges yet to healthcare, higher education and working families, we need a real leader who always puts Louisiana First. We need John Bel Edwards as our next Governor.
