FIGHTING FOR OUR SCHOOLS
Under Charlie's leadership, Florida reached record levels of funding for K-12 education. Charlie saved the jobs of 20,000 teachers during his governorship, and Florida's education system was ranked in the top 10 nationwide.

PROTECTING CONSUMERS
As Attorney General, Charlie took on insurance companies and utilities that were overcharging Floridians.

CREATING JOBS
By working with both parties to allocate federal stimulus money Floridians deserved, Charlie helped save or create nearly 175,000 jobs. In spite of the national recession, thanks to Charlie's efforts, the number of small businesses in Florida grew.

LOWERING PROPERTY TAXES
Charlie cut property taxes by billions of dollars for seniors and the middle class.

STANDING UP FOR WOMEN
Charlie vetoed a bill that would have required a woman seeking an abortion to have a medically unnecessary ultrasound.

MAKING HEALTH CARE MORE AFFORDABLE

Charlie launched the Florida Discount Drug Card, which helped seniors and the state save money.

HELPING FLORIDIANS VOTE
He overruled leadership in Tallahassee to extend voting hours during the 2008 election, making sure that all Floridians could cast their ballots. Charlie also signed a law requiring paper ballots to help cut down on confusion.

PROTECTING OUR LAND ANO WATER
Charlie has always been a champion for Florida's beautiful natural resources — he even proposed buying 187,000 acres of the Everglades for restoration purposes. Charlie worked to ensure that his appointees to the South Florida Water Management District would stop pollutants from running into Lake Okeechobee. And in 2010, Charlie worked tirelessly to hold BP accountable for the oil spill that marred Florida's coastlines.
