ARIZONA'S NEXT GOVERNOR
Fred DuVal is running for Arizona Governor with a record of solving big problems. Fred is an Arizona business and education leader who solves problems and gets things done. He doesn't care if it is a Democratic answer or a Republican answer, just a long as it's the answer that works. Fred's top priority is to rebuild Arizona's milddle class and grow our economy, which starts and ends with fiscally responsible government that focuses tax dollars on better schools to actually create jobs.
A RECORD OF ACTION TO IMPROVE LIFE IN ARIZONA
Raised in Arizona, Fred grew up in Tucson, where his father founded and led the medical school at the University of Arizona. After Fred graduated from Tucson High School, he received his B.A. from Occidental College, and moved back home to Arizona and earned a law degree from Arizona State University. Fred and his wife, Jennifer, currently live in Phoenix with their four-year-old son. Their older son attends college and is a ROTC cadet.
Fred has a record of solving problems. He worked for Governor Bruce Babbitt back when Arizona was growing, and found ways to work across the aisle to get big things done: creating Arizona's cost effective Medicaid program, which now provides health insurance to more than one million people, and making record investments in K-12 schools; in the private sector, he worked with Republican oilman T. Boone Pickens to move the country toward cleaner energy and create jobs in the 21st century economy; and he helped to lead Arizona's public university system through the recession, keeping education affordable by making tough decisions and coming up with an innovative plan to keep costs down and allow students to afford their degrees at one-third less cost. The year he was chairman, he delivered a zero-tuition increase.
Fred has innovative plans to connect colleges and universities with local businesses, provide tax credits to businesses that hire in Arizona, invest in high-tech companies and the solar industry, make school curricula more relevant to the economy and review all government regulations, to make government move faster so businesses can create jobs.
Throughout his life, Fred has demonstrated that he can think big, set goals, and accomplish great things in education and business — the keys to Arizona's prosperity.
