Barbara Buono

As the daughter of an Italian immigrant raised in working-class New Jersey, Barbara Buono knows what it's like for so many New Jersey families struggling to make ends meet. Her father worked as a butcher to provide for his family but when he passed away, Barbara put herself through college - with the help of student loans. Barbara knows the important role smart, efficient government can play for those trying to achieve a better life.
As budget chair and as New Jersey's first woman Senate Majority leader, Barbara took on the tough fights to help responsibly reduce New Jersey's budget while protecting funding for schools and health care. Barbara is joined by her running mate, Milly Silva, who has spent her career lifting up the working class. Together, Barbara and Milly will fight to make sure everyone has a shot at success.

Barbara Buono knows the value of hard work and self reliance. She lifted herself up out of poverty, working odd jobs and taking out loans to finance her education. She knows the important role smart, efficient government can play to help lift people up and maintain a thriving middle class. As a public servant Barbara has dedicated her life to ensuring that government continues to provide people with the tools to better themselves.

The first woman Senate Majority Leader, and the first woman to chair the prestigious budget committee, Barbara used her position to take on the tough challenges facing our state. She fiercely defended critical services like education and healthcare, while still reducing state spending by $4.5 billion by making services more efficient. As governor, she'll fight for a lean and efficient government that saves money without compromising its commitments to its citizens.
A LEADER WE CAN BELIEVE IN
Barbara Buono has never compromised her principles for political gain. She has never been afraid to take a stand on controversial issues, while reducing state spending by $4.5 billion. She isn't afraid to support what she believes in over what political elites want her to support.

With unemployment and property taxes at record highs, Barbara Buono knows that New Jersey cannot afford to be squeezed any more. By investing in infrastructure and education, proven tools of economic growth, she will bring good paying jobs back to New Jersey. By making government services more efficient, and asking the wealthy to pay their fair share, she will provide real tax relief to New Jersey families.
Standing for Those Chris Christie Left Behind
New Jersey deserves a governor who stands up for all of us, not just a few. As governor, Barbara will reach out to the working poor, forgotten in this current
administration. She supports raising the minimum wage and restoring the Earned Income Tax credit, so the most vulnerable workers in New Jersey will be able to pull themselves into the middle class.
Barbara Buono believes that marriage is a civil right. In the State Senate, she voted to give our LGBT brothers and sisters the ability to marry who they love not once, not twice, but three times. As governor, she will waste no time in making New Jersey the 14th state to enshrine this civil right into law.
