Of 56 people identified as working as campaign managers for the 2012 major party nominees for U.S. Senate at the close of the campaign, 44 (78.57%) were male and 12 (39.29%) female.  However, to understand the data, it is necessary to look at the party breakdown.  Astoundingly only one Republican campaign manager was female while Democratic campaign managers showed more balance (60.7% male - 39.3% female).
