Rob
McKenna is the leader to set a New Direction for
Washington State. He has the vision and
experience we need to focus on growing private
sector jobs, improving our public schools, and
reforming state government so it's leaner, more
productive and less expensive. Our state is
known for innovation, but state government
doesn't live up to that reputation - and Rob
McKenna will change that. Rob is recognized for his national leadership as Washington's Attorney General in combatting mortgage fraud and fighting human trafficking. He brings to public service the values he learned as the son of a career Army soldier and a schoolteacher. Rob is a Sammamish High and UW graduate who is a passionate advocate for public education, having served both the Bellevue Schools Foundation and the Bellevue College Foundation. He is committed to revitalizing our state colleges and universities, and to providing new higher education opportunities for Washington state graduates. Rob and Marilyn have four children and make their home in Bellevue. PUTTING STUDENTS FIRST • Reform and fully fund our schools, to fulfill our state's paramount constitutional duty to public education. • Provide innovative options to parents like more Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) schools and proven public charter schools. • Restore our commitment to a 50/50 deal for in-state graduates, splitting costs between families and the state for college. IMPROVING STATE GOVERNMENT • Reduce the size and scope of state government as workers retire - to free up money for priorities like education. • Reward performance and implement "lean" management principles in every state agency, as Rob has done in the Attorney General's office. • Save money through managed competition, to ensure government does the work it is most capable of doing.
