The best choice for Utah's governor is still the Governor.

Conservative Common Sense

"I'm a fiscal conservative not out of political expediency, but by virtue of life experience." - Governor Gary R. Herbert

Governor Herbert
governs with conservative principles because history and common sense show that they work:

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND JOB CREATION RESULTS
FROM LOW TAXES AND A FOCUS ON UTAH BUSINESSES.
Times in America are tough and Utah has not been immune. But our economy is headed into recovery. In fact, Utah is one of the first states to emerge from this recession. By focusing on keeping taxes low and providing consistency for Utah-based businesses, recovering from this recession will benefit Utahns for years to come.

FISCALLY RESPONSIBLE STATE BUDGETS MUST BE BASED ON CURRENT ECONOMIC REALITIES, NOT EASY ACCESS TO YOUR WALLET.
An economic downturn is not a bad time for a tax increase; it's the worst time for a tax increase. "Providing for family" comes first in Utah, not government budgets. Governor Herbert's state budget is lean, and free of tax and fee increases.

STRONG, LOCALLY CONTROLLED EDUCATION
THAT ENCOURAGES PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT.
A child's educational success is rooted in the support network within his or her family. Utah is blessed with both strong families and excellent educators. We need that partnership to continue to grow if we want our children to prosper. Governor Herbert has worked hard over the past five years to successfully increase the amount that Utah has budgeted for education. The Governor recognizes that dollars do not guarantee outcomes.

UTAH SOLUTIONS TO UTAH PROBLEMS.
In Utah, we do not expect others to solve our problems, and we do not comport ourselves in such a way that we become burdens to our fellow citizens. States are not powerless agents of federal authority, and we should not behave as such. We do not need to supplicate before a federal government which refuses to be constrained by the "few and defined" powers enumerated by the Constitution.

I will continue to focus emphatically on Utah's economic recovery and will not rest until every person in this state who wants a job can find a job.

I will continue to ensure state government lives within its means, to achieve new efficiencies and to do more with less.

I will be resolute in opposing new taxes.
