WHY I'M RUNNING FOR SENATE:

There are several reasons I have decided to run far the U.S. Senate. First, I have felt unrepresented far too many years. Why is it that my positions, beliefs and ideas always seem in line with my co-workers, friends and family, but not with the actions of the government?

The growing issues of job loss, home foreclosures, energy costs and healthcare affect the working class citizens more than any federal politicians, yet most of these incumbent leaders have served so many terms that they are out of touch with the true effects of the issues we face. Without feeling the sting of the problems at hand, how can they make good judgments to render effective and appropriate solutions?

I'm afraid of the course our country is taking: a sea of debt, a wholesale loss of manufacturing jobs, inaction on social security and a federal government that can't seem to stop growing. Poor management at the federal level has trickled clown to the state and local levels and now threatens the very fiber of this nation.

Lastly, I don't want to wake up in 20 years and find the American Dream gone, our Constitutional Republic on the ropes and all of our God-given rights squandered. I choose to stand up now so that I know I didn't give up on our great nation without a fight.

So I run to represent my fellow citizens and offer my common sense problem-solving skills to navigate us through these perilous times. I chose to shoot for the federal government because that is where the problems are and where the solutions are needed. With incumbent George Voinovich leaving office there is a glimmer of light for the working class to achieve real representation in Washington. Together we can keep this country a great nation and a beacon to the world. Eric

Meet the Candidate – Eric Deaton

Hello, I'm Eric Deaton and I'm running for U. S. Senate, representing the State of Ohio as the Constitution Party candidate. For many years I have regularly voted, worked hard, continued to learn and, like all of you, paid my taxes. I have lived what many say is the American dream and from humble beginnings I earned a good education and landed a quality job. This has lead to owning a nice home, marrying an exceptional woman and having three great children. But after my many years spent as a loyal citizen I have finally seen a bigger picture. Our nation's direction as it pertains to freedom, quality of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is under attack and declining quickly. Many important things such as job growth, morality, quality leadership and living within the Constitution are not getting better; they are getting worse. The economy of our country has such high peaks and deep valleys that they cause great distress now and they are only worsening and becorning more exaggerated as we go forward.

Our great nation needs a change, a change to take us back to the founding principies of our country. But we will not get that any time soon if we continue our business as usual approach. Every citizen needs to realize that if we continue to elect the same two parties, we are going to keep getting the same results. The majority of us are not happy with those results. Soon our country will be fiscally insolvent, quite possibly within five years; with the terms of our debt renegotiation being delivered to us by the nations that are now buying our country off by paying our bills. We all need to learn to vote for good people and not parties. The day we send a group of true Statesmen to Washington is the day that we will finally take back our country. This will lead to term lirnits being amended to our Constitution and ending the elitist rule that has overtaken our nation. The day we elect sorne good rninor party and independent candidates to represent us in Washington from all walks of life; hard-working, salt of the earth Americans, then that's the day our country will begin to be set straight again. That's when we can go about the business of rolling up our sleeves, paying off our debts, cleaning up our house, reinforcing our moral beliefs and being a God-fearing nation once again.

We currently have a Federal government that's full of lawyers and incumbent politicians. These supposed professional leaders are a class of people that, for the most part, have not seen the daily perils, the backbreaking work and the sweat on their brow that most of us Americans live out on a daily basis. They can never truly represent us, because they don't know the shoes we walk in. We need to clean house in Washington or we're never going to fix this country. It's truly up to us, the voting citizens of this great nation to vote for new leadership from all walks of life. It's our responsibility to take back our country and right this floundering ship. We need to get over the petty politics and belief that our only option is the Democratic or Republican parties to lead us. We also need to lose our recent habit of voting for the seerningly "lesser of two evils." We all need to vote for good people and not parties. We all need to vote for fellow citizens that identify with us and stop voting for the elitist professional politicians that have caused the slow motion train wreck we are now living in.

Ohio can be a leader in these most crucial of times for our nation. We call ourselves the "Heart of it All", so let's lead this nation and send a Constitution Party candidate to the Senate. Let's set the tone and make a statement so other states will follow our lead. This will allow us to take back our country from those who are running it into the ground for their own personal gain, pleasure and power.

I love my country and have enjoyed the freedoms granted to me through the Constitution, freedoms imbued in each of us by our creator. Our Constitution has stood for over 200 years to guarantee these freedoms, which do not flow from our government but from our God. We can all see the immense number of laws at every level of government chipping away at our freedoms. Laws that are many times unconstitutional, contradictory and that require crippling taxes to support an ever-growing government. This brand of two party / elitist leadership will cause our nation to topple. As the longest running country under one system of government, it is apparent that our founding fathers got it right. We all need to vote our conscience to protect what we have for ourselves, and our offspring who will follow us.

Thank you for your time and please support me in my bid to represent you in the U.S. Senate. Together, let' s make November 2nd, 2010 an election for the ages. God bless you all and God bless this great nation.

Eric Deaton
