for U.S. Senate

SHARRON ANGLE
U.S. Senate

Dear Friend,
I am running for US. Senate because I believe we are at a crossroads today. Are we going to leave our children a legacy of debt and deficits, or one of freedom and prosperity?

Harry Reid thinks the solution is to tax and spend our way out of a recession. I think there's a better way. My plan is simple: stop the reckless spending, cut taxes so that small business can start creating jobs again, and secure the borders once and for all.

I want you to know that as your Senator, I will always listen to the people of Nevada, not to powerful special interests in Washington.

I would be honored to have your vote on November 2nd.

Sincerely,
Sharron Angle

An Open Letter to Seniors From Republican Candidate for Senate Sharron Angle

Dear Friend,

Harry Reid has spread a lot of disinformation about my record on Social Security and Medicare. I want to take a moment to tell you about my real plan for these programs.

Repeal Obama-Care

The passage of Obama-Care marks a move by Barack Obama, Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi to take the U.S. in the direction of European-style socialism. For the first time in American history, citizens will be required to opt into a Government program or be fined. This is a massive infringement on our constitutional rights and is meant to replace Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance policies. The only people who will be exempt are politicians, bureaucrats, and union members. This is unacceptable and should be repealed by the next Congress. As your Senator, one of the first bills I sponsor will be a repeal of Obama-Care.

Keep the promise of Social Security

My 87-year-old father worked hard and paid into Social Security his entire life. And yet, politicians like Harry Reid have voted multiple times to raid Social Security to pay for Big Government programs like Obama-Care. We must repay the "IOUs" written to the Trust Fund and fund Social Security so that we can care for our parents and grandparents who have worked hard and played by the rules. I want everyone who has paid into the System and has been promised benefits to receive every dime they ever put in. The only way to do that is by cutting spending and repaying the $2.5 trillion that has been stolen. It is the least the Federal Government can do. The Government must put this money back in a real "lock box" that can never again be raided.

Younger Workers and Social Security

The Congressional Budget Office has projected that we will be paying more out of Social Security than we take in as soon as 2016.At this rate, there will be nothing left for younger workers by the time that they reach retirement age.

Younger workers should be given the choice of staying in the current system or of investing in personalized accounts that they own and that can never be raided by politicians like Harry Reid.To avoid risk for people opting into the new system, there would be a "phase-in" period where workers would be given the opportunity to move their money from the Federal Social Security Fund into a Personal Social Security Fund with a guarantee that upon retirement, they will be paid at least what they would have been paid under Social Security.

Medicare must be efficiently managed

Every American should have the right to choose who will provide their medical care and when they buy it.

America's health-care system is the finest in the world. Instead of empowering bureaucrats, we must empower doctors and patients through market-based changes to our existing system that will enhance consumer choice and encourage greater competition in the open market.

End Frivolous Lawsuits and Empower Doctors

Enacting tort reform (reducing pain and suffering damages for malpractice and diminishing lawsuit risks so doctors are not compelled to purchase liability insurance that costs up to $300,000 /yr) will mean huge insurance savings that can be immediately passed along to patients.

Decide Based on the Facts Instead of Fear

The moment I won the Republican Nomination for Senate, Harry Reid went on the attack, trying to scare Senior citizens into thinking I wanted to end Social Security. Reid has done this because it's the only way that he can win this race. Reid knows that if this race is about what his disastrous economic policies have done for Nevada, his days in office are numbered.

I hope that having had a chance to see the facts and hear my plan, you will support me in my campaign for Senate as I fight to save Social Security and protect Medicare from Barack Obama, Harry Reid, and the Democrats.

I would be honored to have your support on Nov. 2nd.

Sincerely,

Sharron Angle

ANGLE ON COURSE TO RETIRE HARRY REID IN NOVEMBER!
The Angle Examiner
GENERAL ELECTION EDITION  September 1, 2010

TODAY'S QUICK READ

REID ADMITS THINGS WOULD BE BETTER WITHOUT HIM:

It is little comfort or solace to someone when they're afraid they're going to lose a Job, they've lost their Job, their home is underwater, they're concerned about money to send their kids to school. it's little comfort to them to say 'yeah, but if it hadn't been for me, things would be a lot better.' We have made things better, but we have a long ways to go before they're really good."

Harry Reid remarks to the Latín Chamber of Commerce, Las Vegas 8/2010

OVER 45 ORGANIZATIONS AND INDIVIDUALS ENDORSE SHARRON:

As the Republican Primary ended, Sharron developed a broad "Coalition of the Willing", encompassing the support of more that 45 organizations to help her oust Harry Reid. Today, this support continues to gather momentum as Nevadans unite to support. their next U.S. Senator.

ANGLE DEFENDS THE CONSTITUTION & ON THE ISSUES

Sharron has made history in her efforts to defend the Constitution of the State of Nevada, and in running far the United States Senate she believes that now, more than ever, we need public servants in Washington D.C. who will stand up for the U.S. Constitution. Continued on Page 3

Harry Reid wants credit for the economy ... You got it, Harry!

Reid Says Voters: "Have No Idea What They're Talking About."

NEVADA— During the August Congressional recess Harry Reid has bumbled his way through Nevada giving us plenty of odd comments. In his latest crazy remark, he actually wants Sharron Angle to give him credit for the economy, but she should ignore the last 18 months and just remember the so-called "good-old-days".

"She's been in the state a long time — does she give me any credit for the 20 good years we just had?" Reid said in an interview. "lf she's blaming me for what's wrong now, shouldn't I get credit for the 20 years I was back there and we did so well?"
You want credit Harry, we are happy to oblige: "Nevada is in the midst of 18
straight months of increased unemployment, which has driven the state's economy to the worst in the nation. Harry Reid wants credit. Fine, you got it, Harry. But the economy's downturn coincides with your power. You weren't in charge during the good years, but you did fight against the 2001-2003 tax cuts which boosted the economy. You are in charge now and now there's 200,000 Nevadans out of work. You go tell them about the 20 years you weren't in charge then blame someone else for the past 18 months and see how that turns out."
- Jerry Stacy, Sharron Angle Spokesman

But wait, there's more ...

According to Harry Reid, not only are Nevadan's supposed to ignore the last 18
months of downturn in the economy with record unemployment, but if they are frustrated over Reid's policies, which caused this economic mess, then Reid thinks they are just plain ignorant:

"When a local TV reporter asked him to respond to a Rasmussen Reports survey that found 65 percent of Americans angry at federal policies, Reid offered a dismissive response to the idea that there was any public frustration over the issue. 'People responding to it have no idea what they're talking about,' Reid said." (Politico 8/21/10)

No, the people know exactly what they're talking about Harry. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics placed Nevada unemployment at 21.5% – tragically higher than the staggering 14.3% monthly report which only accounts far unemployed workers who are actively seeking employment.

The most powerful Senator in the nation, yet more than one-fifth of his constituents are out of work. lt is Senator Reid, who has no idea what you're talking about.

Harry Reid is Attacking Sharron Angle....

Answers to the Most Commonly Asked Questions about Sharron's Record

Harry Reid is attacking Sharron Angle because he has failed with his "good old
boy, politics as usual, let's make a deal, big government" policies. Harry Reid lives at the Washington DC Ritz Carlton. He is detached from Nevada and the problems Nevadans are facing. No matter how much he tries to make this election about Sharron Angle, it is a referendum on Harry Reid.

Harry Reid has taken Sharron's past comments out of context, hoping to take the focus off his failures, corruption and unrelenting pursuit of the progressive Obama government takeover agenda.

Responses to Reid's Attacks

Continued from Page 1:

Q: Do you want to "Wipe-Out" Social Security?

A: No. I believe we must keep the promise of Social Security by securing the money in the Social Security fund and put it in a lockbox that the Federal Government cannot raid. The Federal Government must repay the IOUs that they have written to the social security fund as a result of raiding the trust fund – as Harry Reid has.

I also believe that we need to create an option of personalized accounts for the younger generation that the Government cannot raid. If Harry Reid can have a personalized account because of his senatorial pension, the American people should be allowed to have a similar option.

Welfare: I don't believe that Social Security is welfare. My 87 year old father is on social security and Medicare, so is my husband's mother. This is just another attempt by Harry Reid to scare Senior Citizens so that they won't notice his record of raiding the Social Security trust fund during his entire career.

Q: Are you a Scientologist? What is the real story about you supporting a prison program run by Scientologists?

A: I am not a Scientologist; I have been a member of the Southern Baptist Church for 35 years.

I proposed that we take a trip as lawmakers to investigate a program called Second Chance that helps prisoners kick drugs and stop committing crimes. The Democrat Leadership nixed the trip and we never went. End of story.

This whole issue is a distraction by Harry Reid so that he doesn't have to talk about his record in Washington. My plan is to talk about the economic issues that matter to the people of Nevada.

Q: Are you a prohibitionist? Do you support a government restriction of alcohol?

A: No, I am not. I was talking about how we deal with alcoholism, and I think that's the same way we deal with the drug epidemic—education instead of legislation. I remember that growing up we didn't have as much of a problem with drugs because we had terrific education about the devastating effect of drug use and societal mores simply wouldn't allow it. I think we should approach alcoholism the same way. That was all I was saying.

Q. Why do you want to eliminate the Department of Education?

A. As a former teacher and grandmother of ten, nobody is more committed to educating our children than I am. I simply don't believe that that is best accomplished via unfunded mandates from bureaucrats in Washington.

I believe that education decisions are best made at the state and local level by parents and teachers who are invested in the lives of the children whom they have been tasked with teaching. Rather than have a gigantic government department that has failed our kids time and again, I would rather put that money as close to the state and local level as possible. By eliminating outdated, overlapping and unfunded federally mandated programs, the taxpayers will no longer need a Department dedicated to bureaucracy.

Q. Why do you want to eliminate the Environmental Protection Agency–especially with the present Gulf/BP disaster?

A. I believe protecting our environment must always be a top priority for Nevada. I think the EPA has done a poor job in fulfilling that mission. The oil blow-out in the gulf is a perfect example of this. The EPA has gotten in Gov. Bobby Jindal's way at every turn since the blow-out happened. We have experienced the same thing here in Nevada; our ranchers and farmers have a long history of interference from EPA officials.

Rather than having bureaucrats who couldn't find Lake Tahoe on a map making decisions for Nevada, I would rather have those decisions being made right here. We'd do a lot better job than the EPA is doing, and we'd save millions in taxpayer dollars as well.

Q. Why did you say that extending unemployment "spoils" Americans?

A. Harry Reid has rammed through tax and spend policies that have forced people out of work, and then he's beefed up unemployment benefits. I think this is backwards.

Harry Reid would never dream of supporting tax cuts. Essentially, what he has done is put people out of work with his policies and then tried to mollify those same people with extended benefits for unemployment.

What we should be doing is giving small businesses tax benefits so that they can start creating jobs and get our economy moving again.

My larger point is that Harry Reid wants to extend unemployment benefits–rather than seek solutions regarding long-term job creation. I want to get people working again with permanent jobs with a real future.

Q. Where do you stand on Yucca Mountain?

A. I have voted against a repository-landfill at Yucca Mountain that would make Nevada the dump site of the United States. Science and related technologies have outpaced the need for a repository. Yucca Mountain should be a reprocessing/recycling center where it is already located on the secured test site where we have been doing research and development for years on nuclear materials with laboratories like Livermore Laboratories. We have been transporting these nuclear materials since 1954 over 400 million miles without incident. Harry Reid has demonized the nuclear energy industry and Yucca Mountain for years. lt is time that we explore the potentials for nuclear reprocessing and invite use it to diversify our Nevada economy creating jobs for Nevadans.

Q. Are Republicans in Nevada as well as Washington DC supporting you?

A. The response from the GOP both nationally and in Nevada has been tremendous; we've already had very good meetings with Senate Minority Leader McConnell and the Republican leadership and they are firmly committed to defeating Harry Reid. We have raised several million dollars since election night and every day we receive calls with offers of help.

Back here in Nevada, I don't think our party has ever been more unified in their desire to beat Reid. The fact is that the GOP is far more unified behind my campaign than the Democrats are behind Harry Reid. On election night, "None of the above" got 15 percent of the vote among Democrats, and I think there's a good reason for that. Even Democrats are tired of Harry Reid. So we are making great progress and believe we are well on our way to victory.

Q. Why were you registered with the Independent American Party and the Democratic Party?

A. I am not a career politician. I did not plan every move I ever made in order to reach higher office like Harry Reid did. I switched my registration once in 1982 so that I could vote for a friend of mine who was a conservative Democrat running in a contested primary. A few years later, I was dissatisfied with the Republican Party at the time, and became a member of the Independent American Party for awhile. I think a lot of people have at some point become dissatisfied with both parties. I know I have. For instance, when the Republicans were in charge, I was just as outraged at their spending as I have been Harry Reid's spending while the Democrats have been in charge.

So when I go to Washington, I'm not going in order to represent a political party, I'm there to fight for the people of Nevada.

The Right Angle: Battle-tested with a Plan for U.S. Senate

Reno, NV— "Good morning American patriots! You have brought a tsunami of conservatism across this country! We know what we want, and that is conservative values - those things our founding fathers fought for, but a/so that we have children fighting for to this day and it is incumbent upon us, to fight for them right here in Washington, D.C.", were the words Sharron Angle began her speech at the National Press Club in Washington D.C. as she accepted the endorsement of the national TEA Party Express and Our Country Deserves Better PAC.

3

Sharron Angle, who served eight years in the Nevada State Assembly, has a longheld, battle-tested record that shows her unwavering commitment to constitutional principles.

She has fought for our Constitutional rights five times, even going all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court to defend Nevada's two-third legislative voting requirement for raising taxes, against the agenda of a rogue tax-happy governor and legislature – an effort that was recognized by the Claremont Institute's Ronald Reagan Freedom Medallion awarded to Sharron in 2004.

Sharron sponsored the Angle Property Tax Restraint Initiative to place a hard cap on property tax increases, sponsored a 'Nevada Taxpayer Bill of Rights' limiting government spending and during her four terms of legislative service, she voted against more than 100 attempts to raise taxes and fees Sharron Angle was, consistently, the only vote in the Legislature against unnecessary tax
increases.

Angle authored The Freedom for Home schooled Children Act (now law) that other states are using as a model for their own Home School legislation and the law that trains teachers to teach reading proficiency skills based on scientifically based reading research (phonics) to Nevada's school children.

Sharron Angle Outlines Her Positions on the Issues

Sharron's overall political philosophy is that government properly exists only by the consent of the governed and must be restrained from intruding into the freedoms of its citizens. In the Nevada State Legislature, she has consistently fought for smaller and more efficient government, traditional values, lower taxes and the right of the people to vote and petition.

Healthcare
Sharron Angle has proposed the following solutions:

  • Repeal and replace Obama-care
  • Elimination of coverage mandates
  • Expanded client pools
  • Tort reform
  • Allow citizens to purchase insurance across state lines
  • Create tax credited health savings accounts

Energy Policy
America must build upon her vast coal and natural gas resources to expand our domestic oil resources.

We have the potential both on shore and off to reduce our dependence on foreign oil. This effort will also provide high paying jobs and expand the economy.

America's policy should be to enforce the rules and regulations currently on the books with respect to off shore drilling. As a result of the recent oil blowout in the Gulf, there is an understandable temptation to overreact and end off shore drilling, but this is the wrong course to take at a critical time.

The Gulf oil spill occurred because British Petroleum took a high risk approach in its drilling program while cutting corners. By contrast, many other companies also drilling in the Gulf have taken a low-risk approach without incident.

This is an indictment of the Federal Government's Mineral Management agency that is charged with overseeing offshore drilling and protecting our environment. lt is not a reason to end off shore drilling and potentially cost Americans thousands of jobs in an already weakened economy.

Taxation
In the Nevada State Legislature, Sharron Angle was consistently the only vote against unnecessary tax increases and voted against more than 100 attempts to increase taxes and fees.

She sponsored the Angle Property Tax Restraint lnitiative (aka Nevada's Prop 13) which placed a hard cap on property tax increases that future Legislatures could not repeal. Sharron Angle was also a co-sponsor of Tax and Spend Control for Nevada, which imposed a constitutional measure to limit government spending.

Sharron Angle has signed the National Taxpayers Pledge to vote against tax and fee increases.

Social Security
We must keep the promise of Social Security by redeeming the "IOU's" that have been written to the Social Security Trust Fund and then putting that money in a lock box that cannot ever be raided again by Washington politicians. The only way we pay for it is by cutting spending.

We should also create personalized accounts for the next generation that cannot be raided.

National Security and Public Protection
Sharron Angle is a staunch supporter of the U.S. military, and will work tirelessly to secure the peace and security of our country.

She supports strong sanctions against rogue nations that export, support or harbor terrorism and believes that we must do whatever necessary to protect America from terrorism.

Active Military and Veterans
Sharron Angle strongly supports improved compensation and care for those serving in the U.S. military, as well as their families and veterans. TRICARE for the military must be protected from attacks that dilute quality of care and increase costs.

Sharron has a record of supporting the military and has received the Certificate of Appreciation from the Southern Chapter of MOAA (Military Officers Association of America).

Border Security/Illegal Immigration
The United States must secure its borders immediately and enforce the. laws that are already on the books.

Economic Development and Government Regulation
The fastest way to get the economy moving again is to cut spending, pay back the national debt, and make permanent the Bush Tax Cuts which are due to expire in just a few months. Steps like these would go a long way toward giving the business community the confidence they need to start creating jobs arid hiring again.

Private Property
Sharron Angle respects the rights of the individual to own property. She led the effort for the Angle Property Tax Restraint Initiative, which placed a hard cap on property tax increases which future legislatures could not reverse. Sharron also co-sponsored the initiative that protected property owners from the potential abuses of eminent domain.

Right to Bear Arms, Second Amendment
Sharron Angle supports the individual constitutionally protected right of the people to keep and bear arms fer security and defense of self, family, property, as well as for other lawful purposes.

Sharron has been endorsed by the Gun Owners of America and has an "A" rating with the National Rifle Association (NRA).

Family Values
Sharron Angle recognizes the traditional family as the foundation of America's society.

Sharron worked to pass the Constituti9nal Protection of Marriage Act in Nevada, which defines marriage as between one man and one woman. Sharron Angle has been endorsed by Family PAC Federal and Concerned Women fer America.

Protection of Life

Sharron Angle believes all human life is precious, regardless of location, age, infirmity, or degree of dependence.

Sharron has been endorsed by Phyllis Schlafly, Life and Liberty PAC, and Concerned Women for America.

Education

As a teacher and grandmother of ten, there is no one more committed to education than Sharron Angle.

Sharron believes education decisions are best made at the state and local level by parents and teachers who are invested in the lives of the children whom they have been tasked with teaching. Sharron supports putting that money as close to the state and local level as possible.

Campaign Finance Reform
Sharron Angle believes we must close the loopholes in the campaign finance system while requiring immediate disclosure of large contributions, via the internet.

Angle Honored by Senior Citizen Group
Permanent Repeal of Death Tax Draws Citation
Alexandria, VA – The Chairman of the 60 Plus Association, a national nonpartisan senior citizens group, announced today that Sharron Angle has received the Benjamin Franklin Award because "she has vowed to vote in the U.S. Senate to repeal this terrible 'death' tax." Angle is running in the Republican primary in order to replace Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) in November. Reid has voted time and again to retain the Death Tax, which hurts small business owners and farmers all over Nevada.

60 Plus Chairman Jim Martin noted, "lt was Franklin who famously said there are two certainties in lite, death and taxes, but because of the estate or 'death' tax, there is a third certainty--- taxes after death. 60 Plus decided to give a Benjamin Franklin award to those who support repeal.

"On April 13, 2005, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 8 by a 110 vote margin, 272-162, to repeal the death tax. Over 40 Democrats, including eight members of the Congressional Black Caucus, voted to abolish this antibusiness tax. This makes it crystal clear this is not a tax break for the rich. That's nonsense. The rich set up trust funds and foundations to protect their assets. It's small businesses, especially first generation, newly-emerging, minority-owned, small family run businesses that suffer the most. While repeal passed the House by over 100 votes, you might wonder why it didn't pass in the Senate. One reason - Harry Reid made sure it did not get the necessary 60 votes needed for final repeal. The rate dropped to zero during 2010 but will spring back to life in 2011 unless repeal passes the Senate.

"So, it is with a great deal of pride that 60 Plus honors Sharron Angle with the Benjamin Franklin Award because if Sharron Angle has her way, we will get rid of that third certainty-taxes after death-and make Mr. Franklin's famous quote accurate once again. 60 Plus calls on nearly 5.5 million seniors nationally for support, including 63,000 seniors in the Silver State, so I believe I can speak on behalf of seniors when I say that they can count on Sharron Angle."

Martin concluded, "Sharron knows a bad tax when she sees one and the death tax is an unfair tax. I've been credited by many, most notably Bill Gates, Sr. in his book, Wealth and Our Commonwealth: Why America Should Tax Accumulated Fortunes, with popularizing 'death tax' for the estate tax. Why do I call it that? Because it's triggered only by death. Senior citizens know they can always depend on Sharron Angle to abolish this anti-farmer, anti-senior, anti-small business, job-robbing confiscatory tax."
