In Nevada today, hundreds of

Cops Are on the Beat

and Teachers Are in the Classroom...

...Thanks to the power and determination of
Senator Harry Reid

It's tough enough to make ends meet in this economy.
We can't afford to have this downturn threaten our safety and our kids' education, too.

Thankfully, Nevada has something other states don't. We have the Senate's Leader looking out for us.

When layoffs of police and teachers were a near certainty due to budget cutbacks, Harry Reid delivered $120 million in economic recovery funds to keep hundreds of law enforcement officers protecting our communities and teachers working in our classrooms.

Without Senator Reid, there's no doubt that fewer cops would be walking beats in our neighborhoods today, and classroom sizes would have ballooned higher due
to forced teacher layoffs.

There's too much at stake. Our families simply can't afford to lose Nevada's power in the Senate.

Take a look at a few of the many alarming ideas that make up
Sharron Angle's
DANGEROUS AGENDA

EXTREME

DANGEROUS IDEA #1
"We need to phase Medicare and Social Security out."
Face-to-Face Debate 5-19-10

Completely eliminating Medicare and Social Security?

Surely, this must be a misquote, right?

No, actually it's a centerpiece of Sharron Angle's campaign. She said it on the radio, in media interviews, and even on her own website.

Here's how news outlets characterized her position:

  • The Associated Press said she wanted to "wipe out Social Security."1
  • The Reno Gazette-Journal says "Angle wants Medicare and Social Security wiped out."2

2. Reno Gazette Journal 6-20-10

DANGEROUS IDEA #2
Angle favors ''termination of the Energy Department and the Environmental Protection Agency."

As America copes with the worst environmental disaster in our history, Sharron Angle wants to eliminate the Energy Department and the EPA, two agencies working to combat the Gulf oil spill.

Her answer to the spill in the Gulf is to "further 'deregulate' the oil industry" and to let BP off the hook for the full costs of the catastrophe by opposing elimination of liability caps for the oil industry.1

Asked what she thought of the $20 billion Victim Compensation Fund, Angle took sympathy on BP, saying "government shouldn't be doing that to a private company" and calling the fund for victims of the oil spill "a slush fund."2

DANGEROUS IDEA #3
Nevada Wouldn't Be Able To Protect Women Who've Fled From Domestic Violence

Sharron Angle voted to prevent Nevada from enforcing protective orders against violent domestic offenders from other states.

In Sharron Angle's strange world view, Nevada would become a safe haven
for domestic abusers and a very dangerous place for abuse victims fleeing their violent spouses.

The Nevada Attorney General's office called the legislation "the protection (victims of domestic violence) need,"
but Angle opposed it.

DANGEROUS IDEA #4

The Federal Department Of Education Should Be EIiminated." - www.sharronangle.com, 6-8-10

Sharron Angle's often-stated plan to entirely eliminate the federal Department of Education -she even called the department "unconstitutional" on her website -would cost Nevada plenty.

Her proposal would have eliminated loans, grants and scholarships for more than 30,000 Nevada college students struggling to afford a higher education.1

With 3,600 education jobs in Nevada paid for by the Department of Education last year, Angle's plan would have terminated hundreds of classroom teachers. And that would have meant even larger classes and less personal instruction.2

DANGEROUS IDEA #5
Angle Opposes Requiring Insurers To Cover
Mammograms and Colon Cancer screenings

One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. Colon cancer is the third leading cause of death among men in the U. S. Yet both can be treated successfully if detected early.

Seems logical to encourage screenings, doesn't it?

Not to Sharron Angle.

She was one of only two votes in the Assembly against requiring insurers to cover screenings for colorectal cancer. She also opposes requiring insurance companies to cover mammograms and voted against requiring coverage for osteoporosis.1

1. SB 1835-16-03
2. AB 162 4-15-99

DANGEROUS IDEA #6
Angle Opposes ANY Reform Of Wall Street

Unchecked greed and abuse on Wall Street took our economy to the brink of collapse.

Yet, when Angle was asked directly by the Las Vegas Sun if Wall Street should be reformed, she responded in writing: "NO."1

Instead of holding Wall Street's bankers accountable for gambling with our jobs and retirement savings, "Angle blames the fiscal crisis on 'too much regulation across the board."'2

According to the Sun newspaper, based on her opposition to any reforms whatsoever," Angle is quite literally alone, not just among Republicans running for Senate, but also among economists and finance experts – left, right and center.

It's a uniquely extreme and reckless, even dangerous, agenda being promoted by a major party nominee for U.S. Senate.

SHARRON ANGLE TV AD

And Jon Ralston from the Las Vegas Sun had this to say about Sharron Angle's latest TV ad about immigration:

"This is the most inflammatory [Angle ad] yet, including that still shot of those young Hispanics made to look like threatening thugs. That's sure to cause some discontent in the Hispanic community... "
