LEADERSHIP – WITH A FRESH PERSPECTIVE

Lisa is a proven leader with nearly two decades of experience in education. She is stepping forward to put her leadership skills to work for the people of Kansas. She is not a career politician. As a Washington outsider, she hopes to bring a fresh perspective to the U.S. Senate by using her professional expertise and her ability to ask tough questions to find successful solutions to problems. She is committed to fight for what is best for Kansans and all Americans.

She is a leader who possesses the skills, abilities, and professional expertise to succeed as a U.S. Senator.

Midwest Roots

Lisa lives in Overland Park with her husband of eleven years, Kyle, who is the Web and Digital Creative Director for Garmin in Olathe. Kyle is a lifelong Kansas resident who was born and raised in McPherson. Lisa has lived in the Midwest her entire life and has lived in Kansas for the last thirteen years. She grew up in small towns and rural areas in northern Missouri and southwestern Iowa where she spent time on her grandfather's family farm. Having lived in all types of communities puts Lisa in a position to better understand the concerns of people throughout the state, which is essential for a statewide office.

Education
Education is vital to the future of our state and our nation and it must be funded accordingly
Provide an excellent educational foundation at the K-12 level that will shrink the achievement gaps that have emerged between U.S. students and students around the world
• Adopt educational approaches that are engaging for students and that encompass individual differences and various learning styles
• Make higher education accessible and affordable for both high school graduates and working adults who are returning to enhance their professional development

Individual liberty and freedom
• Our country was founded on the principle of individual liberty and that each of us deserves the right to follow our own path and find what brings us joy and fulfillment

Better access for all Americans to the legislative process
• Reduce legal jargon and end political gamesmanship

• Require these summaries to be posted on the web prior to congressional votes to allow constituent review and feedback

• Doctors and patients should not need to fight with insurance companies to get coverage for treatment that is needed
• We need more options for Americans to get better quality care at a lower cost
• Promote wellness and the well-being of all citizens

National security and International relations
• Diplomatic efforts should be our first course of action whenever possible

Sound environmental policy
• We only have one Earth and we must be sure that as we advance as a society we do so in a way that does not damage our planet
• We should encourage individuals and businesses to use green technology

Support for seniors and veterans
• Those who have provided for our needs and our safety deserve our support

We need true representation for the people - not politicians who work for special interests. This requires a commitment to integrity and fighting for what is best for Kansans.

"I believe we need more tough-minded, outspoken leaders committed to doing what is best for the people of their state - a Senator for the People. Sticking with politics as usual will not move us forward positively. I am dedicated to bringing a fresh perspective to Washington and working passionately to improve the future for Kansans and all Americans."
