 LA Secretary of State

Notes: Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) easily won a second term, obtaining 65.80% in the Oct. 22 blanket primary.
Tara Hollis (D), a school teacher from Haynesville, finished a distant second with 17.88%, attorney Cary Deaton (D) placed third at 4.89%, and seven other candidates in low single digits rounded out the field.

Jindal was mentioned as a potential 2012 presidential candidate, but most observers ruled him out following his weak response to President Obama's Feb. 2009 address to a joint session of Congress.  Jindal re-emerged on the national stage following the BP oil disaster.  In Nov. 2010 he came out with a book Leadership and Crisis (Regnery, Nov. 15); at that time he ruled out a presidential run and made it clear he was running for re-election.

Jindal's campaign started with $6.0 million in cash on hand, and spent $1.6 million, while the Hollis campaign reported total receipts of $42,498 (>).

Campaign Managers:
Bobby Jindal:  Matt Parker served as campaign manager from Jan.-June 2011.  Timmy Teepell was campaign advisor.

Tara Hollis:  Anthony Nelson
