*Down from 151 in the previous Parliament.  As a result of redistribution, the electorates of North Sydney, NSW (47 to 46) and Higgins, VIC (39 to 38) were eliminated and a new electorate, Bullwinkel, WA (15 to 16) was created for the 2025 federal election.

NSW - Bradfield recount ongoing as of June 1.  Coalition has lost three and possibly four seats: Liberals lost Banks (Labor's Zhi Soon defeated David Coleman) and the adjacent Hughes (Labor's David Moncrieff defeated Jenny Ware), and the Nationals lost Calare (Independent Andrew Gee defeated Sam Farraway); Bradfield is tbd.  Independents now hold 5 seats: Calare (Andrew Gee), Fowler (Dai Le), Mackellar (Sophie Scamps), Warringah (Zali Steggall) and Wentworth (Allegra Spender).

VIC - Labor gained three seats.  A shock occurred in Melbourne electorate where Sarah Witty defeated Greens leader Adam Bandt.  In Deakin, Matt Gregg defeated incumbent MP Michael Sukkar (Liberal) and in Menzies, Gabriel Ng defeated incumbent MP Keith Wolahan.  In  a squeaker in Goldstein, after a partial recount, former Liberal MP Tim Wilson defeated Teal Independent MP Zoe Daniel, who had ousted him in 2022, by 175 votes.  Independents now hold 2 seats: Kooyong (Dr. Monique Ryan) and Indi (Helen Haines).

QLD - Queensland was the big hammer for Labor as they gained seven seats in the State, five from the Coalition and two from the Greens, to bring their total from five to 12.  In Dickson, Ali France, making her third attempt, defeated Opposition Leader Peter Dutton; in Bonner, Kara Cook (Labor) defeated Ross Vasta (LNC); in Forde, Rowan Holzberger (Labor) defeated Bert Van Manen (LNC); in Leichhardt, Matt Smith (Labor) defeated Jeremy Neal (LNC); and in Petrie, Emma Comer (Labor) defeated Luke Howarth (LNC).  Labor also picked up two seats that had been held by the Greens, as Madonna Jarrett (Labor) won in Brisbane and Renee Coffey won in Griffith.

WA - In Moore, Labor's Tom French defeated Liberal Vince Connelly for a gain, while Labor's Trish Cook claimed the new electorate of Bullwinkel.  Independent Kate Chaney held Curtin, defeating Liberal Tom White.

SA - In Sturt, Labor's Claire Clutterham defeated Liberal James Stevens for a gain.  In Mayo, Rebekha Sharkie kept the Centre Alliance seat.

TAS - Labor gained two seats at the expense of the Liberals.  In Bass, Jess Teesdale defeated Bridget Archer and in Braddon, Anne Urquhart defeated Mal Hingston.  Independent Andrew Wilkie comfortably held Clark.

ACT - There was a very tight race in Bean, where incumbent David Smith (LAB) finished ahead of Jessie Price (IND) by a margin of 700 votes (50.34% to 49.66%) in the two candidate preferred.

NT - No change.

Note: The two vacancies arose from resignations in Jan. 2025, and both seats were held by their respective parties on 3 May.  In Maribyrnong, VIC, Jo Briskey (LAB) was elected to fill the seat that had been held by Bill Shorten (LAB).  In Hinkler, QLD, David Batt (NAT) was elected to fill the seat that had been held by Keith Pitt (NAT).

SENATE

40 OF 76 SEATS UP (AEC Detailed Results)

Preliminary House results are known and reported even on Election Night, but there is a very complicated voting system for the Senate, and the results—and implications—are not known for several weeks after the election
(+).  In the previous parliament, the crossbench held sway in the Senate.  The 2025 election, when the calculating and counting was done,  produced a majority of 39 seats for the left (28 Labor and 11 Greens).  The Coalition lost three seats and former LNP Senator Gerard Rennick was also ousted, while Labor gained two seats, and Pauline Hanson's One Nation gained two seats to bring its total to four.  In NSW, QLD and WA, there were 3-3 left-right splits and in SA and VIC 4-2 left-right splits.  All told, eight new Senators were elected.

Before: Coalition 30, Labor 25, Greens 11, Paula Hanson's One Nation 2, Others/Independents 8.
After: Coalition 27, Labor 28, Greens 11, Paula Hanson's One Nation 4, Others/Independents 6.
