Our Nation’s History is filled with the stories of brave men and women who gave everything they had to build America into the Greatest Nation in the History of the World. Generations of American Patriots have summoned the American Spirit of Strength, Determination, and Love of Country to overcome seemingly insurmountable challenges. The American People have proven time and again that we can overcome any obstacle and any force pitted against us.

But now we are a Nation in SERIOUS DECLINE. Our future, our identity, and our very way of life are under threat like never before. Today we must once again call upon the same American Spirit that led us to prevail through every challenge of the past if we are going to lead our Nation to a brighter future.
 
For decades, our politicians sold our jobs and livelihoods to the highest bidders overseas with unfair Trade Deals and a blind faith in the siren song of globalism. They insulated themselves from criticism and the consequences of their own bad actions, allowing our Borders to be overrun, our cities to be overtaken by crime, our System of Justice to be weaponized, and our young people to develop a sense of hopelessness and despair. They rejected our History and our Values. Quite simply, they did everything in their power to destroy our Country.
 
In 2016, President Donald J. Trump was elected as an unapologetic Champion of the American People. He reignited the American Spirit and called on us to renew our National Pride. His Policies spurred Historic Economic Growth, Job Creation, and a Resurgence of American Manufacturing. FRC Action's Tony Perkins Statement on the Adoption of the 2024 Republican Party Platform

Milwaukee, WI -- Family Research Council Action Chairman Tony Perkins, who is a member of the RNC Platform Committee from Louisiana, released the following statement in response to the adoption of the 2024 Republican Party Platform:

“The 2024 platform is a concise statement of campaign priorities, but not a declaration of enduring principles for a political party.  Unfortunately, the choreographed process -- which allowed no amendments to be discussed or voted upon -- was unbecoming of a party that champions free speech and due process.   Delegates were given the platform this morning when they entered the convention hall with no time to review, much less the 72 hours that Republican lawmakers call for in the House of Representatives. 

“Delegates were only given a few minutes of discussion before ‘debate’ was ended and a vote was taken. Ironically, the document calls for a vigorous defense of free speech and the end of government censorship.  Deprived of the opportunity to discuss amendments to the ‘draft’ platform document, we have submitted a minority report to supplement that campaign’s platform.

“The submission of a minority report is further evidence that the pro-life movement will continue to advance pro-life principles and policies at every level of government. 

“The right to life transcends other political debates and the interests of any and all political parties and candidates. It is truly the right without which no other right has any meaning,” concluded Perkins.

Trump Loyalists Turn Project 2025 Into Republican Party Platform

This morning, Donald Trump’s campaign previewed an RNC platform in the style of their candidate’s unhinged, rambling, extreme rants. For once, they delivered, ripping straight from Project 2025 with a few strategic omissions to try and pull the wool over voters’ eyes.

Donald Trump’s policy “platform” reads more like the screed of an unhinged and unwell conspiracy theorist
who hates America and is in it for himself. Because, well, it is.

According to the Times’ report, Trump’s top campaign advisers worked to have “policy specifics kept to a bare minimum” to avoid the public learning more about their unpopular agenda, including their plans to ban abortion nationwide with or without Congress.

The glaring omissions from Trump’s so-called “platform” are a reminder of what he’s trying to hide from the American people:

• Donald Trump will ban abortion nationwide with or without Congress. He’s said so publicly and privately, as have his allies, who “trust” him to get it done.
• Donald Trump will repeal Obamacare, ripping health care away from tens of millions of Americans and throwing young people under 26 off their parents’ insurance, as he tried to do multiple times while in office.
• Donald Trump will slash Social Security and Medicare – and proposed doing so every year he was in office.
• Donald Trump will raise costs for workers to line the pockets of his billionaire donors, as he has promised to do behind closed doors.
• Donald Trump will abandon our NATO allies and encourage Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.

Last week, The Washington Post reported that Trump’s team barred the press and C-SPAN cameras from RNC platform committee meetings for the first time in years. An RNC spokesperson admitted to the Times that the Trump team “withheld the names of the representatives in order to insulate them” from the scrutiny of the American people.

Unfortunately for Trump and his allies, their platform is already public – a 900-page handbook on extremism known as Project 2025. More and more voters are tuning in to – and horrified by – Donald Trump’s agenda.

A reminder of just how far Donald Trump will go to bring Project 2025 to fruition:

• Empower himself to get ‘revenge’ on his enemies and weaponize the DOJ to prosecute them
• Conduct the largest deportation operation in American history
• Undo all Biden-era environmental progress and replace green energy sources with oil and nuclear energy
• Gut the Department of Education
• Destroy democracy to ensure elections are only “secure” if he wins
• Censor books and American history
• Disintegrate the separation between religion and state, forcing students to read the Bible and pray in school

Trump's Project 2025 Platform is the Most Extreme in GOP History

Following the Republican Platform Committee’s adoption of Trump’s 2024 Republican Party platform, DNC National Press Secretary Emilia Rowland released the following statement:

“Trump is so desperate to distance himself from Project 2025 as the American people are grappling with the terrifying truth about his second term agenda that he and his team overhauled the Republican platform process to keep the public and the press in the dark, all caps-ed 20 bullet points behind closed doors, and blasted it out to divert attention from his real plans: a national abortion ban, handouts for his billionaire donors on the backs of middle-class Americans, cuts to Medicare and Social Security, and to be a dictator on ‘day one.’ The reality is that Trump literally put architects of Project 2025 in charge of the Republican platform, and the result is not only the most extreme platform in GOP history but one containing lie after lie after lie. The American people know that Trump wants a nationwide abortion ban and they know the only thing standing in the way of Trump’s terrifying second term agenda is reelecting President Biden and Vice President Harris in November.”

Trump and his MAGA cronies are already trying to spin their terrifying agenda to hide the Project 2025 blueprint that would guide his second term agenda.

Trump’s team frantically dropped an ALL CAPS list of 20 bullet points, filled with lies. So, we fixed it for them:

1. Tank a bipartisan border security deal for Trump’s political gain
2. Rip families apart while enacting cruel anti-immigrant policies
3. Send inflation soaring, risking an economic crash
4. Gut environmental protections to appease Big Oil and Big Gas
5. Wage a reckless trade war and impose a bigger tax on middle class families
6. Gift massive tax breaks to the ultra-wealthy and big corporations at the expense of the middle class
7. Rip away as many freedoms as possible from as many Americans as possible
8. Double down on being an international embarrassment, turning against our allies, praising foreign dictators and authoritarian leaders, and siding with our adversaries over our military and intelligence communities
9. Weaponize the government to target and fire “disloyal” federal employees
10. Rail against historic legislation such as the American Rescue Plan which bolstered law enforcement’s ability to protect our communities
11. Continue to fail to deliver on infrastructure and investing in America after making “Infrastructure Week” a long-running joke
12. Call servicemembers “suckers” and “losers”
13. Rig the economy for the ultra-wealthy and big corporations and cause an “inflation bomb” with no regard for how it would affect the middle class
14. Gut Social Security and Medicare
15. Threaten thousands of jobs being created thanks to President Biden’s EV manufacturing boom, rolling back progress in fighting the climate crisis while costing good paying jobs and causing economic harm

2024 Republican Platform “Makes Official” the GOP’s Mass Deportation Agenda

Washington, DC — Yesterday’s release of the Republican Party’s official 2024 platform reflects the GOP’s full takeover by Donald Trump and the dangerous radicalization of the Republican Party.

The first two priorities of the new platform, detailed in Trump’s preferred all caps style, are, “SEAL THE BORDER, AND STOP THE MIGRANT INVASION,” echoing the white nationalist rhetoric that has been used by multiple deadly domestic terrorists, followed by “CARRY OUT THE LARGEST DEPORTATION OPERATION IN AMERICAN HISTORY,” without detailing that deeply rooted immigrants like Dreamers, business owners and members of U.S. citizen families would be included. There is an additional platform priority that advances the false storyline about immigrants and crime, noting: “STOP THE MIGRANT CRIME EPIDEMIC…”

Also yesterday, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) embraced Trump’s agenda for mass roundups and deportations, noting that “the largest deportation effort in history…it’s needed. ” Of note, Trump and allies have made clear their proposed mass deportations would be unsparing, saying “No one should be off the table,” meaning the deportations wouldn’t be focused on those who Speaker Johnson portrays through lurid lies about immigrants and crime, but against long-settled immigrants deeply rooted and contributing to America.

The following is a statement from Vanessa Cárdenas, Executive Director of America’s Voice:

“The Republican Party 2024 platform makes official the GOP’s long and very ugly descent on immigration. The GOP embrace of the white nationalist ‘invasion’ language cements the GOP’s dangerous turn toward mainstreaming a conspiracy already linked to multiple acts of deadly violence. Added to that is the full endorsement of unsparing deportations - a massive purge that would rip apart American families, communities and our economy and is the single most consequential and damaging immigration and economic position of Trump’s campaign.  Donald Trump and Stephen Miller’s anti-immigrant wishlist is now stamped with the full support of a once-proud party that used to recognize that immigrants and immigration are a strength of America.

On the pledge to conduct mass deportations, Trump’s refusal to answer Jake Tapper’s debate question was revealing and he and other Republicans need to fully explain their plan for the pledged ‘largest deportation operation’ in history and its unsparing focus. Speaker Mike Johnson is on-board, but what about the rest of the GOP – from the 10 candidates who are a part of the new bilingual Show Me Your Friends/Dime Con Quién Andas campaign – candidates who try to portray themselves as moderates on immigration to their voters – to other GOP candidates up and down the ballot?

Every Republican needs to make clear where they stand. Just like Project 2025, the more Americans learn about the toll and implications of Donald Trump’s dangerous and damaging second-term vision, as reflected in the official Republican platform, the more unpopular and toxic it will become.”

The Republican Platform Reflects Trump’s Vision for A Nationwide Abortion Ban

Donald Trump’s statement that he doesn’t support an act of Congress to ban abortion nationwide is hollow, because the national abortion ban Trump and his right-wing allies seek will be accomplished through the courts they captured. Trump’s 2024 Republican Party Platform makes this clear by calling on states to endorse “fetal personhood” to justify their abortion restrictions, teeing up the courts to declare abortion unconstitutional.

This should come as no surprise—Trump is seeking to distance himself from the Republicans’ politically toxic anti-abortion agenda, content to outsource his assault on women’s freedoms to his captured and unaccountable MAGA Court.

Since he began running for president, Trump repeatedly promised to use the Supreme Court to overturn Roe:

“I’m pro-life. The judges will be pro-life.” – Trump on 60 Minutes, (11/13/2016)

In response to a presidential debate question on whether he wanted to “see the court overturn Roe v. Wade,” Trump responded, “Well, if we put another two or perhaps three justices on, that’s really what's going to be – that will happen. And that’ll happen automatically, in my opinion, because I am putting pro-life justices on the court.”  – Presidential Debate (10/19/2016)

Former Vice President Pence echoed Trump’s commitment to appoint only anti-choice justices to the Supreme Court:

“And that’s why next week president Donald Trump will announce a Supreme Court nominee who will uphold the God-given liberties enshrined in our Constitution, in the tradition of the late and great Justice Antonin Scalia.  Life is winning in America.”  – Pence at the March for Life (1/27/2017)

At the debate last month, Trump bragged about appointing the justices who overturned Roe:

“And what I did is I put three great Supreme Court justices on the court, and they happened to vote in favor of killing Roe v. Wade and moving it back to the states.” – Presidential Debate (6/28/2024)

The GOP platform is unequivocal in its support for fetal personhood:

We proudly stand for families and Life. We believe that the 14th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States guarantees that no person can be denied Life or Liberty without Due Process, and that the States are, therefore, free to pass Laws protecting those Rights. After 51 years, because of us, that power has been given to the States and to a vote of the People. We will oppose Late Term Abortion, while supporting mothers and policies that advance Prenatal Care, access to Birth Control, and IVF (fertility treatments).

The platform explicitly recognizes fetal personhood, while framing restricting abortion as a states’ rights issue. The inherent contradiction in those policies is what has allowed the Trump campaign to confuse the issue, and, in usual fashion, to have it both ways, as Jessica Valenti eloquently explains. But in reality, the two concepts are designed to work hand-in-hand. States will invoke fetal personhood to defend their abortion restrictions all the way to the Supreme Court, where Trump and the Republican Party expect the right-wing justices to endorse “the legal theory that the Constitution already outlaws abortion with or without amendment,” as Jamelle Bouie writes in the New York Times.

Make no mistake: The MAGA Court’s fetal personhood agenda poses a direct threat to ALL Americans’ reproductive freedoms, in red and blue states alike. Abortion, IVF, and contraceptive access are all at dire risk.

The bottom line:
Trump and MAGA Republicans have proudly captured and reshaped the Supreme Court in their image, making good on Trump’s promise to add three vehemently anti-choice justices who joined together with Justices Thomas and Alito to overturn Roe, a precedent that was in place for 50 years. If given the opportunity for another term, he will continue his assault on our freedoms using the Supreme Court, appointing additional extreme justices to carry out his anti-choice, anti-democratic agenda that is not supported by the American people. A craftily worded platform document can’t disguise the years of clear and unrelenting commitment to taking away American women’s reproductive freedom.

Talking Points from Reproductive Freedom for All:

• The bottom line is this: If Trump wins the presidency in 2024, he will try to ban abortion nationwide—and he won’t stop there. And that is what the GOP Platform promises to do. From birth control to IVF, all of our fundamental rights and freedoms are on the line.

• From appointing the Supreme Court majority that overturned Roe v. Wade to decimating our nation’s family planning program to reviving dangerous anti-abortion restrictions that block access to abortion globally, Donald Trump has already shown us that there is nothing he won’t do to end abortion access.
• Trump and the devastating abortion bans he opened the door for have emboldened anti-abortion extremists nationwide. MAGA Republicans are increasingly saying the quiet parts loud—attacking emergency abortion care, birth control, and IVF.
• Despite Trump lying about his stance on medication abortion, Project 2025 (which he has also implausibly tried to disavow) includes a plan to block access to abortion pills, effectively banning them in all 50 states—no matter what protections are in place in state law or the state’s constitution.
