WASHINGTON, DC — The Green Party of the United States
has nominated Jill Stein and Butch Ware for president and
vice president, respectively, at the party's 2024 National
Convention, which was held virtually on Zoom and streamed
on social media sites on Saturday, August 17.
Dr. Stein and Prof. Ware delivered their acceptance
speeches on Saturday afternoon and then spoke at a press
conference. The speeches and press conference will be
uploaded to the Green Party's YouTube channel shortly (see
above for the channel link). Other press conferences have
already been uploaded.
Butch Ware is an activist first. He is also a dedicated
educator and an esteemed historian whose work specializes
in empire, colonialism, genocide, and revolution. He is a
leading academic authority on the US Black Radical
Tradition, Africa, and Islam. Dr. Stein announced Prof.
Ware as her running mate on Friday, August 16.
Jill Stein and Butch Ware were nominated with 267 out
of 287 votes cast by delegates representing state Green
Parties and Green caucuses across the US.

Ware to the national ticket and looks forward to more
engagement during this campaign and beyond," said Darryl!
LC Moch, co-chair of the caucus. "The selection of Ware is
a great boost to highlight the issues facing BIPOC
communities and to engage in the discourse of how we build
the America we can all live and thrive in."
Margaret Kimberley, executive editor and senior
columnist at Black Agenda Report and host of the Black
Agenda Radio podcast, delivered the convention's keynote
speech before the nomination.
The nomination was streamed with text translations in
Spanish and Arabic on Saturday afternoon.
The Green Party's 2024 Annual National Meeting
continues with internal events and concludes on Sunday,
August 18.

Honorary Co-Chairs for the Green Presidential Nominating Convention
WASHINGTON, DC — The Green Party of the United States has announced two Honorary Co-Chairs for the 2024 Green Presidential Nominating Convention on Saturday, August 17: Craig Cayetano (New Jersey) and Margaret Elisabeth (Washington).The presidential nomination on Saturday is part of the larger Green national convention, which takes place from Thursday, August 15 to Sunday, August 18.
As members of the Green Party's national Steering Committee, Elisabeth and Cayetano embody the party's ideals, goals, and platform. Elisabeth, a former Seattle City Council candidate, and Cayetano, former co-chair of the Green Party of New Jersey and Town Council candidate in Hawthorne, New Jersey, are playing a crucial role in promoting the convention and serving as media spokespeople.
The Honorary Co-Chairs will be responsible for opening the convention, serving as "Masters of Ceremonies," and participating in media outreach.
"The Green Party and our Green New Deal are the answer the United States has been waiting for. It's time to vote Green for an evergreen future," said Margaret Elisabeth
Elisabeth ran for Seattle City Council in 2023, garnering 6% of the vote in their district though they failed to make it through the primary. Craig Cayetano ran for Hawthorne Town Council and in 2023 received 33% of the vote.
"I have said before that the Green Party is the true people's party here in the US, always standing with labor and the peace movement," said Cayetano.
"Craig Cayetano brings a wealth of experience in environmental and animal rights activism, as well as a strong background in sales and customer relations," said Gloria Mattera, Green Party Media Committee Coordinator. "We are excited to have him and Margaret Elisabeth as our Honorary Co-Chairs."
