FUNDRAISING AND SPENDING

Ed. notes (updated Oct. 2, 2024): Following an August fundraising haul which was nearly three times that achieved by the Republicans, Harris/DNC have built up a more than $100 million cash on hand advantage over Trump/RNC.  However, the Democrats point to the significant amounts raised and spent by outside groups.  Big players include MAGA, Inc. and Save America on the Republican side and Future Forward and American Bridge 21st Century on the Democratic side (see: OpenSecrets).

External events affect the fundraising numbers.  Harris' entry into the race spurred "the single greatest week in fundraising history."  In the 24 hours following the Sept. 10 debate, the Harris campaign reported raising $47 million.  In June Biden and the DNC had a surge following Biden's disastrous debate, and in April and May Trump and the RNC built off Trump's trial in NYC to obtain large hauls.

Harris (and previously Biden) campaign press releases do provide more detail than the Trump releases, including information about what the money is being spent on; among other expenditures Republican side has been spending millions on Trump's legal fees.

Note:
Interestingly while the Biden campaign highlighted grassroots fundraising in its press releases, it neglected to mention a couple of its glamorous mega-fundraising events: a June 15 event with TV host Jimmy Kimmel, former President Barack Obama and Hollywood stars at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles that raised a reported $30 million—the largest single night event for a Democratic candidate—and a March 28 event with former Presidents Obama and Clinton at Radio City Music Hall in NYC that raised a reported $26 million. Meanwhile Trump trumped both those events with an April 6 fundraiser at the Palm Beach home of hedge fund billionaire John Paulson that raised a reported $50.5 million.

Team Harris-Walz Raises $361 Million in August, $404 Million War Chest Entering Campaign Home Stretch

Best Grassroots Fundraising Month in Presidential History

Haul Nearly Triples Team Trump’s August Raise, Putting Harris-Walz Campaign in a Strong Position for a Stiff Spending Battle to Come

Nearly 3 Million Donors Contributed in August Alone

More than $615 Million Raised Since Beginning of Vice President Harris’ Candidacy

Today, Team Harris-Walz announced that it raised $361 million in August, the largest haul of the 2024 cycle and nearly triple Team Trump’s August fundraising haul. Team Harris-Walz has raised more than $615 million since the beginning of Vice President Harris’ candidacy, and has been powered by a record-breaking grassroots fundraising program: August’s haul was the best grassroots fundraising month in presidential history.

Team Harris-Walz is also reporting $404 million in cash on hand – a massive war chest that will be mission-critical to beating Team Trump’s aggressive operation. Pro-Trump super PACs, funded by unlimited contributions from billionaires, are consolidating their efforts and pumping hundreds of millions of dollars to bolster Trump’s campaign through Election Day – funneling their cash into battleground states to support Trump. In fact, two billionaires alone have bankrolled more than $150 million in spending in just the past six weeks for Trump – MAGA Inc. has spent nearly $100 million in ads and direct mail since the end of July, funded in large part by the $125 million that billionaire Tim Mellon contributed earlier this year, and Preserve America PAC has spent $54 million, bankrolled by Miriam Adelson, who has promised to spend more than $100 million to elect Trump.

“In just a short time, Vice President Harris’ candidacy has galvanized a history-making, broad, and diverse coalition – with the type of enthusiasm, energy, and grit that wins close elections,” said Harris-Walz 2024 Campaign Manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez. “As we enter the final stretch of this election, we’re making sure every hard-earned dollar goes to winning over the voters who will decide this election. Make no mistake: this election will be hard-fought and hard-won. But with the undeniable, organic support we are seeing, we are making sure we are doing everything possible to mobilize our coalition to defeat Donald Trump once and for all.”

“Since Vice President Harris announced her candidacy in July, one thing has been clear: voters are excited and motivated to send her to the Oval Office,” said DNC Chair Jaime Harrison. “If you need proof, just look out at our fundraising numbers. In August, we had the best grassroots fundraising month in presidential history, and our historic war chest will power us through the last two months of this election. We’re proud that our team is fueled by everyday Americans: teachers, seniors, and hardworking families. Their values reflect our values, and we will continue to fight on their behalf when we win in November.”

August’s $361 million haul was powered by record-shattering grassroots fundraising support:
  • August was the best grassroots fundraising month in presidential history, drawing in record support from first-time donors: Nearly 3 million donors made contributions this month alone – with 1.3 million donors making their first donation this cycle. Of those first time donors, three-quarters did not contribute in the last presidential election.
  • Five of the top ten grassroots days of the campaign were from August. The third best grassroots day of the campaign was August 6, when Vice President Harris announced Governor Walz as her running-mate.
  • 95% of all August donations were under $200, and teachers and nurses continue to be among the most common donor occupations.
  • Vice President Harris’ candidacy has also galvanized new demographic groups to donate: Over 60% of all donors in August were women and almost a fifth of donors were registered Republicans or Independents

Team Harris-Walz’s War Chest is Putting Its Resources to Reach the Voters Who Will Decide The Election:

The money being raised across Harris for President, the Democratic National Committee, and joint fundraising committees is bringing the stakes of this race to the voters who will decide what we know will be a very close election. This effort includes:
  • The largest Weekend of Action of the campaign to-date focused on Trump’s Project 2025, with more than 2,000 events and 20,000 volunteer shifts already scheduled ahead of the September 10 ABC debate next week
  • More than 312 coordinated campaign offices and more than 2,000 coordinated staff across the battleground states, including offices in Republican strongholds to cut into Trump’s margins
  • A $370 million investment on digital and television advertising between Labor Day and Election Day to ensure the Vice President is directly communicating to battleground voters on the issues that matter most to them, including Trump’s dangerous Project 2025 agenda
  • A recent Weekend of Action, featuring more than 10,000 volunteers who made nearly 900,000 calls and knocked on 150,000 doors, contacting more than 1 million voters
  • Bolstering efforts to reach key parts of the campaign’s winning coalition: Black voters, Latino voters, AANHPI voters, young voters, and women.
  • The largest transfer ever to campaign committees in a presidential cycle to bolster Democrats’ efforts up and down the ballot

Team Harris-Walz’s Record-Breaking Haul Will Be Critical To Defeating Trump’s Billionaire-Funded Operation:

With just 60 days until Election Day, Vice President Harris and Governor Walz are utilizing their massive war chest to cement the choice for the voters who will decide this election. That includes efforts like this weekend’s Project 2025 Weekend of Action, as well as an aggressive paid media campaign through Election Day putting a spotlight on Trump’s Project 2025. These efforts are critical as Donald Trump’s billionaire-funded campaign, along with pro-Trump super PACs, are spending big: Already, Team Trump is spending hundreds of millions of dollars on the airwaves in battleground states. And new, pro-Trump, soft money groups continue to spring up at a rapid pace, ready to throw millions into efforts to bolster Trump’s bid for the White House – spending on paid media and ground game operations:

This fall will be a fierce spending battle. While billionaires spend heavily to push Trump toward victory, Team Harris-Walz and its army of grassroots supporters will continue leveraging its massive infrastructure advantage in the battlegrounds and its historic war chest to relentlessly take the stakes of this election to the voters who will decide it.

Team Harris Raises $310 Million in July, Announces $377 Million War Chest

Best Grassroots Fundraising Month in Presidential History

Surpasses $1 Billion Since Launch, Fastest in Presidential History

More than $200 Million Raised in First Week of Vice President Harris’ Candidacy; Single Greatest Week in Fundraising History

Two-Thirds of Haul Come From First-Time Donors

Today, Team Harris announced that it raised $310 million in July, the biggest haul of the 2024 cycle. July’s haul, powered by the best grassroots fundraising month in presidential history, is more than double what the Trump campaign and RNC raised in July, and includes more than $200 million in the week following President Biden's endorsement of Vice President Harris’ candidacy.

With today’s announcement, Team Harris has already raised over $1 billion this cycle, the fastest a presidential campaign has crossed the $1 billion threshold in presidential history.

Team Harris is also reporting $377 million in cash on hand – the largest ever war chest at this point in the cycle and $50 million more than the Trump team’s post-July cash on hand. This July, Team Harris grew its historic war chest while also significantly expanding its footprint and operations both at HQ and across the key states – building the capabilities needed to win a close election.

July’s $310 million haul was also the strongest grassroots month in presidential campaign history and powered by a surge in new support. Two-thirds of the record-shattering haul came from first-time donors, further proof of the tremendous support for Vice President Harris that powers our historic fundraising operation. Additionally, the vast majority of July’s raise came from grassroots donors, and eight of the campaign’s ten best grassroots fundraising days came in July.

Team Harris’ grassroots machine makes clear the coalition is energized:

  • July was the best grassroots fundraising month in presidential history.
  • Team Harris raised more across grassroots channels in the four days following President Biden’s endorsement of Vice President Harris than Trump’s big donor reliant operation raised in the entire month.
  • More than 3 million donors made over 4.2 million contributions – with more than 2 million donors making their first donation this cycle. Team Harris also grew its sustaining donor base – grassroots supporters that are committed to donating regularly to the campaign – by more than 50 percent, growing to nearly half a million donors.
  • This month, 94% of all our donations were under $200, and teachers and nurses continue to be among the most common donor occupations.
  • Since launch, Vice President Harris has also galvanized new demographic groups to donate:
  • Compared to June, we saw more than 10x the number of Gen Z donors, and more than 8x the number of Millennial donors.
  • 60% of all donors in July were women.
  • Coalition groups that organized calls since launch – like Black Women for Harris, Latinas for Harris, and yes, White Dudes for Harris – raised more than $20 million for Team Harris.  [ed. see note]
“This is a history-making haul for a candidate who will make history this November. The tremendous outpouring of support we’ve seen in just a short time makes clear the Harris coalition is mobilized, growing, and ready to put in the work to defeat Trump this November,” said Harris for President Campaign Manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez. “Our money is going to the work that wins close elections – whether it be an organizer knocking doors in DeKalb County, a rural office opening in Pennsylvania, or a college student tabling at a club fair. It is the product of a campaign and coalition that knows the hard work and fighting spirit needed to win in November – and when we fight, we win.”

"From historic grassroots fundraising to hundreds of thousands of new volunteers, one thing is clear as Vice President Harris continues to prosecute the case against convicted felon Donald Trump – voters are fired up and ready to beat Trump again this November,” said Democratic National Committee Chair Jaime Harrison. “The majority of this grassroots fundraising came from first-time donors who have been inspired to chip in to support Vice President Harris' historic candidacy. Their grassroots dollars will translate to more offices across the country, more staff engaging directly with voters, and more opportunities for us to take our message directly to voters about what is at stake in this election. We can't and won't go back, and this past month made it clear that the American people agree."

Team Harris’ War Chest is Being Used to Reach the Voters Who Will Decide This Election:

The historic outpouring of support for Vice President Harris – raised across Harris for President, the Democratic National Committee, and joint fundraising committees – will be critical to bringing the stakes of this election to the voters who will decide what we anticipate will be a very close election.

  • More than 260 coordinated campaign offices and more than 1,400 coordinated staff across the battleground states, including new investments in training and reaching supporters across the country with new organizing tactics.
  • A $50 million paid media campaign between late July and the August Democratic National Convention targeting the audiences critical to winning this November, including running during high-audience events.
  • Last weekend, Team Harris welcomed more than 170,000 new volunteers to the campaign and held 2,300 events mobilizing thousands of supporters across battleground states.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump’s campaign is working for the ultra-wealthy and corporations – not the American people:

While Team Harris is seeing a historic outpouring of grassroots support, Donald Trump has spent the month doing little more than shilling for himself and wealthy donors. He’s made promises to billionaire oil and gas executives that he would roll back climate policy while asking for max-out campaign donations. And three months away from Election Day, his campaign still lags far behind in campaign infrastructure in key battleground states.

This historic 2024 fundraising operation – built between the candidacies of President Biden and Vice President Harris – hit $1 billion raised earlier than any Democratic presidential campaign in history, doing so in one of the most challenging months historically for campaign fundraising.

Team Biden-Harris Raises $264 Million in Q2, Announces $240 Million Cash on Hand

June’s $127 Million Haul is Best Fundraising Month of the Campaign

$38 Million Raised in the Four Days Following the First Presidential Debate

Today, Team Biden-Harris announced that it raised $264 million in the second quarter of 2024, pulling in $127 million in the month of June alone – the campaign’s best month of the cycle. This historic fundraising operation continues to be powered by a robust and growing grassroots operation, with more than half of the total amount raised in the second quarter coming from grassroots donors – a clear indication of the strong enthusiasm behind the Biden-Harris ticket. This second quarter haul is $75 million more than Team Biden-Harris’ raise in the first quarter of 2024.

The team is also reporting $240 million in cash on hand – up from $212 million last month. Over the course of the last three months, Team Biden-Harris grew its historic war chest while also significantly expanding its footprint and operations both in HQ and across the key states – the resources needed to win a close election.

June’s $127 million haul was not just Team Biden-Harris’ best month overall to-date – it was the strongest grassroots month to-date. Nearly two-thirds June’s raise came from grassroots donors, and of the $38 million raised in the final few days of the month, more than $30 million came from grassroots donations. Last Thursday was the best grassroots fundraising day of the campaign, and Friday was the second best. Nearly half of grassroots donations following the first presidential debate came from first-time donors to the campaign, bringing the total new grassroots donors in Q2 to more than 864,000 donors. Team Biden-Harris also now has 1.3 times more recurring donations than at this point in the 2020 cycle, and 95 percent of all donations are less than $200 – another proof point of strong, sustained grassroots support.

“Our Q2 fundraising haul is a testament to the committed and growing base of supporters standing firmly behind the President and Vice President and clear evidence that our voters understand the choice in this election between President Biden fighting for the American people and Donald Trump fighting for himself as a convicted felon,” said Biden-Harris 2024 Campaign Manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez. “President Biden is building a positive future for our country – where every American has a fair shot, our rights are protected, and our president fights to strengthen our democracy – not tear it apart. And on the other side, every single day, Trump becomes more unhinged and dangerous, whether he’s bragging about his role in overturning Roe or proudly and openly refusing to commit to accepting the results of this November’s election.

“This election will be close and the stakes couldn’t be higher – which is why today’s fundraising haul matters so much. It will ensure that we reach and mobilize the voters who will decide this election every single day.”

"Grassroots donors across the country are chipping in every day because they know that this election will determine the course of history,” said Democratic National Committee Chair Jaime Harrison. “From school teachers in Georgia to union workers in Pennsylvania, every dollar of this record-breaking fundraising haul is a vote for a stronger and fairer economy, for safeguarding our rights, and for the preservation of our democracy. In June, Democrats had their best fundraising month to date, and just last week, we had the best grassroots fundraising day of the campaign. These dollars will go to opening offices, hiring staff, and spreading Democrats' message of hope — all of which will power Joe Biden and Kamala Harris back to the White House."

Team Biden-Harris’ Grassroots Machine is strong and growing:

  • In Q2, 95% of all our donations were under $200 and more than 1.5 million donors made over 2.8 million contributions – with more than 864,000 donors making their first donation this cycle in Q2.
  • June was the campaign’s best grassroots fundraising month and includes its top two grassroots days ever, with nearly two-thirds coming from grassroots donors.
  • Team Biden-Harris also grew its sustaining donor base to 314,000 unique donors – more than 1.3 times as many as this point in 2020, and nearly 100,000 donors more than at the end of Q1.
  • President Biden’s grassroots active email list – still the largest in Democratic politics – grew by 11 million subscribers in Q2. Nearly 25% of this growth came from active email subscribers from 2020 re-engaging in the fight.
  • Grassroots fundraising contests featuring the President generated $12 million for the campaign in Q2, and direct-to-camera video creative featuring the President continues to be our top performing digital fundraising ads. These contests have become integral to the campaign’s ability to recruit new, first-time donors, and brought 200,000 new donors aboard in Q2 alone.
Team Biden-Harris’ War Chest is Going to Reaching The Voters Who Will Decide This Election:

Team Biden-Harris is investing this money – raised across Biden for President, the Democratic National Committee, and joint fundraising committees – in the important, decisive work to speak to the key voters in battleground states. Including:

  • More than 200 coordinated campaign offices and more than a thousand staff across the battleground states, including historic investments in training and reaching supporters across the country with new organizing tactics.
  • A $50 million paid media campaign for the month of June alone including historic investments in ad buys targeting Latino, Black, AANHPI, and Haley voters.
  • Major organizing pushes – including Black Voters for Biden-Harris and the recently launched campaign targeting Latino voters around Copa América – designed to reach out to the communities who will decide this election.
  • Just this past weekend, Team Biden-Harris held a massive mobilization blitz of over 1,500 events across the battlegrounds, marking the most successful organizing weekend of the campaign by far this cycle. Post-debate, across the battlegrounds, our rate of volunteer signups was more than three times as much as an average day
Trump is running a campaign for his ultra-rich friends and corporations – not the American people:

Donald Trump is proudly selling the American people out to billionaire oil and gas executives to fund his campaign. Donald Trump’s fundraising continues to be fueled by his billionaire buddies donating max out checks and no amount of money will buy back all the time Trump’s campaign has wasted building battleground infrastructure. He’s selling America out, promising policy changes while begging for donations as he has spent as much as $83 million of everyday Americans’ money to pay his personal legal bills.

President Biden’s 2020 campaign raised over $1 billion, the most money of any presidential campaign in history, which included $700 million online driven by small-dollar donations – also the most in history. With President Biden at the top of the ticket, ActBlue saw over 133 million separate donations in the 2020 cycle with 71% being first-time donors.

Team Biden-Harris Raises More than $85 Million in May 2024, Entered June with $212M War Chest

$212 Million in Cash on Hand, More than $558 Million Raised Since Launch, Highest Total of Any Democratic Candidate in History at This Point in the Cycle

Three Million Supporters Joined Team Biden-Harris in May Alone

Fundraising Fueling More Than 1000 Battleground Staffers, Major Paid Media and Organizing Efforts

Today, Team Biden-Harris announced a $212 million war chest and more than $85 million raised in May 2024, continuing to build on the steady and historic work of the Team Biden-Harris fundraising operation. Team Biden-Harris’ May haul and war chest continues to outpace any Democratic candidate in history at this point in the cycle.

Team Biden-Harris’ May haul was driven by continued strength and growth in our grassroots network. May was Team Biden-Harris’ second strongest grassroots month to date, a majority of May’s raise came from grassroots donors, and three million more supporters joined Team Biden-Harris in the month alone.

This historic war chest is being used to election-winning campaign infrastructure building and efforts, including:
  • More than 1,000 Team Biden-Harris coordinated staffers across the country, and more than 200 coordinated offices.
  • New, major organizing and outreach programs like Black Voters for Biden-Harris and today’s announcement of new investments into organizing and paid media targeting Latinos during Copa América.
  • A historic, $50 million paid media program targeting battleground voters in the month of June ahead of the first presidential debate.
“Our strong and consistent fundraising program grew by millions of people in May, a clear sign of strong and growing enthusiasm for the President and Vice President every single month,” said Julie Chavez Rodriguez, Biden-Harris 2024 Campaign Manager. “The money we continue to raise matters, and it’s helping the campaign build out an operation that invests in reaching and winning the voters who will decide this election – a stark contrast to Trump’s PR stunts and photo-ops that he’s pretending is a campaign. From person-to-person organizing to a historic paid media campaign, we’re doing the work to reach and earn the votes needed to win in November.”

“With Election Day right around the corner, voters are energized and motivated to rally behind Team Biden-Harris,” said DNC Chair Jaime Harrison. “And this May, our grassroots donors showed up and showed out. Powered by nurses, teachers, and retirees, our fundraising program is rapidly growing and reaching voters nationwide. While Trump is leaching off his billionaire sycophants, our campaign represents the voices of America, and we’re honored to have their support as we race toward November.”

Team Biden-Harris’ strong grassroots operation in May reflects growth and durability across the campaign, DNC, and its joint fundraising committees:
  • May was Team Biden-Harris’ second strongest month for grassroots fundraising to date.
  • Team Biden-Harris grew its active email list by another 3 million subscribers in May – two million more additions than in April and continuing to build upon its universe, which is already the largest in the history of Democratic politics.
  • May was Team Biden-Harris’ best month for recurring donors to date.
  • Since launch, 96% of all our donations were under $200 and 2 million donors have made nearly 5.6 million contributions.
  • Team Biden-Harris now has over 250k recurring donors, over 1.4 times what we had at this point in 2020.
  • A majority of May’s raise came from donors hailing from all 50 states and all walks of life – mainly teachers, nurses, and retirees.
Donald Trump’s campaign tells a different story. His campaign and the RNC have closed battleground state offices, announced no at-scale organizing programs, and have virtually zero battleground staff. And Trump is proudly selling the American people out to billionaire oil and gas executives to fund his campaign – and his other issues.

Team Biden-Harris Enters June Ahead of Trump with $192M War Chest

$192 Million in Cash on Hand Outpaces Trump’s COH, Highest Total of Any Democratic Candidate in History at This Point in the Cycle

Trump Focuses on Billionaire Donors, While Team Biden-Harris Shows Consistent Strength With Grassroots Base

Fundraising Fueling Battleground State Operations, While Trump Absent On the Ground

Team Biden-Harris Raised More than $473 Million In Year Since Launch, $51 Million in April

Today, Team Biden-Harris announced a $192 million war chest, the highest total of any Democratic candidate in history at this point in the cycle. Team Biden-Harris raised more than $51 million in April 2024, continuing to build on the steady and historic work of the Team Biden-Harris fundraising operation. Team Biden-Harris’ April haul and war chest continues to outpace any Democratic candidate in history at this point in the cycle.

While Team Trump has focused nearly entirely on courting billionaire donors maxing out early in the cycle instead of building a durable grassroots fundraising program, Team Biden-Harris’ April haul was driven in large part by continued strength and durability in our grassroots network. A majority of April’s raise came from grassroots donors, and one million more supporters were added to our email list in the month alone. This fundraising is powering a growing battleground state operation and a historic paid media campaign focused on the voters who will decide this election. With six months until Election Day, the Biden-Harris campaign is driving ahead with the enthusiasm, strength, and historic resources needed to win a close election in November.

“April’s haul reflects strong, consistent grassroots enthusiasm for reelecting Joe and Kamala, and is giving us the resources necessary to invest in opening offices, hiring organizers and communicating across our battleground states in order to mobilize the coalition of voters who will decide this election,” said Julie Chavez Rodriguez, Biden-Harris 2024 Campaign Manager. “Trump’s operation continues to burn through cash and lag behind our growing and aggressive campaign, with no ground game and no demonstrable interest in talking to the voters they need to win. We’re taking nothing for granted, but only our campaign is doing the required work every single day to earn voters’ support this November.”

“Democrats across the country are fired up to re-elect President Biden and Vice President Harris – just look at the numbers: we have more cash on hand than any other Democratic candidate in history,” said DNC Chair Jaime Harrison. “Our grassroots donors understand the stakes of this election, they’re motivated to give and volunteer, and they look like America. It is their passion, their strength, and their belief in our country that will carry us over the finish line and lead us to victory this November.”

Let’s do a deeper dive on the numbers:

Team Biden-Harris’ grassroots operation in April reflects strength across the campaign, DNC, and its joint fundraising committees:
  • April was Team Biden-Harris’ strongest month for recurring donors to date – with recurring donors contributing over $5.5M in revenue in a single month.
  • Team Biden-Harris grew its active email list by another 1M subscribers from March to April continuing to build upon its universe, which is already the largest in the history of Democratic politics.
  • Since launch, 96% of all our donations were under $200 and 1.8 million donors have made nearly 4.9 million contributions.
  • Additionally, we now have more than 225,000 sustaining donors who have committed to donating every month – over 1.5 times the amount at this point in the 2020 cycle.
  • Donors hailed from all 50 states and all walks of life, with teachers and nurses as some of the most common occupations among donors.
Donald Trump’s campaign is selling the American people out to billionaire oil and gas executives to fund his campaign – and his other issues:
  • Donald Trump’s fundraising was fueled by his billionaire buddies donating max out checks.
  • Trump is personally begging donors to max out their contributions to his campaign and is effectively promising donors whatever policies they want if they donate to his campaign.
          • Last week the Washington Post reported Trump promising oil and gas executives  whatever they want in exchange for donations – including oil lobbyists writing executive orders for him to sign.
  • Trump is falling behind Joe Biden with small donors and has spent more than $75 million on personal issues, instead of talking to the voters who will decide this election.
Unlike Team Trump, Team Biden-Harris’ April haul is going toward the efforts needed to reach and win the voters who will decide this election:
  • More than 150 coordinated offices.
  • Over 500 coordinated staff in battleground states and increased organizing presence in the communities that will decide this election.
  • $14 million ad campaign targeting voters across battleground states during the month of May, including investments into African American and Hispanic media.
Donald Trump and the RNC have closed battleground state offices, they have no organizing programs, negligible battleground staff presence, and virtually zero ads.
  • In primary after primary election – and months after Nikki Haley dropped out – including in key battlegrounds Pennsylvania, Georgia, and Wisconsin, hundreds of thousands of *Republican* voters have come out against Trump and his brand of MAGA extremism.
  • In battleground states, Republicans are sounding the alarm at the Trump campaign’s lack of staff, money, and battleground strategy.
  • Trump is taking Black and Brown voters for granted, closing outreach offices, letting go of their coalitions point person, and ignoring them all together – no surprise given Trump would rather demonize Black and Brown voters than appeal to them.

Team Biden-Harris Raises More than $187 Million in Q1, Announces More Than $192 Million Cash on Hand

Team Biden-Harris Raised More than $90 Million in March Alone, $422 Million Since April Launch is Most Ever for a Democratic Presidential Candidate

$192M is Highest Total Cash on Hand of Any Democratic Candidate in History

5 Straight Months of Record-Breaking Grassroots Support

Today, Team Biden-Harris announced that it raised more than $187 million in the first quarter of 2024, including more than $90 million in the month of March. This historic fundraising operation continues to break monthly grassroots fundraising records through the first three months of 2024 – an indication of enthusiasm, strength, and Team Biden-Harris’ historic resources heading into the general election. This first quarter raise is nearly double the unprecedented 2023 fourth-quarter haul of $97 million.

The team is also reporting a historic $192 million in cash on hand, the highest total amassed by any Democratic candidate in history at this point in the cycle. Team Biden-Harris’ cash on hand has increased each of the four reporting periods since the president launched his reelection. What that means is that as Team Biden-Harris grows its operation, it continues to also grow its war chest.

While Trump cozies up to billionaires tonight to raise his money, Team Biden-Harris’ first-quarter haul was driven by the strength of our grassroots support, which continues to grow month over month. March was the campaign’s strongest grassroots fundraising month since launch and the fifth consecutive record-breaking grassroots fundraising month. To date, 1.6 million people have contributed to the campaign.

“The money we are raising is historic, and it’s going to the critical work of building a winning operation, focused solely on the voters who will decide this election – offices across the country, staff in our battleground states, and a paid media program meeting voters where they are,” said Julie Chavez Rodriguez, Biden-Harris 2024 Campaign Manager. “It’s a stark contrast to Trump’s cash-strapped operation that is funneling the limited and billionaire-reliant funds it has to pay off his various legal fees.”

“While Donald Trump has been busy awarding himself golf trophies at Mar-a-Lago and palling around with billionaires, Joe Biden has been criss-crossing the nation connecting with voters and outlining his vision to grow our economy from the bottom up and the middle out. That’s why Democrats are earning record-breaking support from grassroots donors, like nurses and teachers, who are fired up to reelect President Biden, Vice President Harris, and Democrats up and down the ballot,” said Jaime Harrison, Chair of the Democratic National Committee. “Thanks to historic fundraising, like we saw this quarter, we have been able to expand our work on the ground in states so that we can connect more and more with the voters who are powering this campaign and who will turn out in November to reject Trump and MAGA extremists.”

“It sure looks like Trump’s campaign is hiding behind a few billionaires at Mar-a-Lago and is struggling to attract the grassroots donor enthusiasm that powers winning campaigns,” said Rob Flaherty, Biden-Harris 2024 Deputy Campaign Manager. “Unlike Trump, we’ve got nothing to hide and everything to be proud of: our program is showing historic strength and sends a clear signal that our coalition is motivated and growing by the month.”

Team Biden-Harris’ war chest is both the highest total amassed by any Democratic candidate in history at this point in the cycle, and more than double what Donald Trump and the GOP fundraising apparatus have on hand.

The $100 million war chest advantage Team Biden-Harris has over Trump just so happens to be the same amount in legal fees Trump has paid since he left the White House – almost entirely with political contributions from his donors.

Our program is showing strong, growing, and sustained grassroots enthusiasm for the long-term – the very metrics Trump’s campaign is hiding the ball on. The (deliberately) scarce details available so far from Team Trump show an operation relying heavily on maxed-out donors and little evidence of a durable grassroots program. Let’s take a look under the hood:

Team Biden-Harris’ Grassroots Machine is strong and growing:

  • In Q1, 96% of all our donations were under $200 and more than 1.1 million donors made over 1.9 million contributions.
  • We now have more than 212,000 sustaining donors – more than double the amount at this point in the 2020 cycle – who have pledged more than $5.2 million in monthly contributions.
  • And in March alone, 704,000 unique donors made 864,000 contributions to Team Biden-Harris.
  • March was our strongest grassroots fundraising month since launch and more than half of Team Biden-Harris’ revenue came from grassroots channels in Q1. March was the fifth consecutive record-breaking month for grassroots fundraising. Team Biden-Harris also raised $1.5 million per day in grassroots fundraising in March.
  • Donors hailed from all 50 states and all walks of life, with teachers and nurses as some of the most common occupations among donors.
  • The Biden campaign’s active email list doubled in size from the end of Q4 2023 to the end of Q1 2024, and email and text engagement doubled in Q1 2024.
  • High-profile moments continue to motivate our supporters – and at a historic scale:
          • Around the State of the Union, Team Biden-Harris saw the best, second best, and third best hours of grassroots fundraising this cycle in a row.
          • The campaign raised over $10 million in the 24 hours around the State of the Union in grassroots contributions.
          • The “Evening with the Presidents” Contest generated $9.5 million in grassroots fundraising – highest performing grassroots sweepstakes to date.

Team Biden-Harris’ Fundraising is Going to the Voters Who Will Decide This Election

The money Team Biden-Harris is raising is going to the important, early work to speak to the key voters in battleground states. That includes:

  • More than 100 coordinated campaign offices and hundreds more staff across the battleground states, including historic investments in training and reaching supporters across the country with new organizing tactics.
  • A $30 million, six-week paid media campaign targeting the voters who will decide this election, including ad buys targeting Latino, Black, AAPI, and Haley voters.
  • Fanning out the President, Vice President, and other surrogates across the battleground country. President Biden visited every battleground state in less than 20 days, and campaign surrogates participated in 69 campaign events in March alone.

Trump’s Program Tells a Different Story

Donald Trump isn’t showing either the interest or financial capability to reach the voters who will decide this election. The RNC has scrapped plans to expand its outreach to communities of color, and Trump’s team has actively looked to attack Haley supporters who continue to vote en masse against him. Here’s where his money is going – or where it isn’t going:

  • Donald Trump’s legal fees continue to stack up. Swaths of Trump’s haul will go to his more than $100 million and growing in legal fees, including what he raises at his fundraiser today – hardly a way to reach swing voters.
  • The money Trump is raising isn’t from grassroots donors, but predominantly from fancy dinners with billionaires at his country club – and even when Trump does raise money from small online donors, he’s directed 10% of every dollar to his PAC to pay his legal bills
  • Donald Trump has announced zero battleground offices or staff – in fact the RNC has closed offices and is firing staff.
  • Instead of focusing on reaching new voters, Trump has exited the Mar-a-Lago basement for his hardcore MAGA-base rallies. Invoking violent rhetoric, praising insurrectionists, and attacking fellow Republicans is hardly a way to reach moderate Republican voters.

More Than $160M Raised in September, $283M Cash on Hand for Trump-Vance Campaign

The Trump-Vance campaign and authorized committees once again exceeded internal benchmarks and demonstrated huge support from grassroots donations.

The campaign ended September with over $160 million raised and 96 percent of the donations being under $200. This resulted in an average donation of $60 from working men and women across the nation. With this September haul, the campaign and authorized committees ended the month with $283 million cash on hand ensuring the resources needed to propel President Trump’s campaign to victory.

“President Trump continues to inspire millions of everyday Americans to join his America First movement and help fuel the campaign with their hard-earned money. In September, nearly 2.5 million donations under $200 were made. These supporters have allowed us to bank the funds we need as we move into the campaign’s final weeks. Our momentum continues to grow from supporters and donors across the country as we enter the homestretch toward victory.” - Brian Hughes, Trump Campaign Senior Advisor

$130M Raised in August, Nearly $300M Cash on Hand for Trump-Vance Campaign

The Trump-Vance campaign and authorized committees had another massive month of fundraising exceeding internal benchmarks and yet again demonstrating huge support from grassroots donations.

With $130 million raised in August, a stunning 98 percent of this month’s donations were under $200. This resulted in an average donation of $56, from everyday Americans. With this fundraising, the campaign ended August with $295 million cash on hand ensuring the resources needed to propel President Trump’s campaign to victory.

“With Republicans united and a growing number of Independents and disaffected Democrats crossing partisan lines, the Trump-Vance campaign has momentum for the final stretch of the race. These fundraising numbers from August are a reflection of that movement and will propel President Trump’s America First movement back to the White House so we can undo the terrible failures of Harris and Biden.” - Brian Hughes, Trump Campaign Senior Advisor

TRUMP CAMPAIGN BEATS BIDEN Q2 FUNDRAISING, ENDS Q2 WITH CASH ON HAND ADVANTAGE

Team Trump Raised $331M in Q2, Biden Reported $264M

Today, the Trump Campaign reports that in the second quarter of fundraising, it raised a total of $331 million. This beats the quarterly number of $264 million reported by Biden for the same period. After beating Biden in the months of April and May, the Trump team added another $111.8 million in June.

More importantly, the Trump campaign ends June with a cash on hand advantage as Biden continues to burn through millions while still losing ground in national and battleground polling. Team Trump’s cash on hand at the end of June is $284.9 million compared to $240 million reported by Biden.

“President Trump’s campaign fundraising operation is thriving day after day and month after month. Winning this quarter brought us a cash on hand advantage, which is punctuated by a Biden burn rate that grows while yielding no tangible results for them. Despite Biden spending nearly $120 million on tv, cable and radio alone, polling and voter enthusiasm continue to grow for President Trump. This fundraising momentum is likely to grow even more as we head into a world-class convention and see the Democrats continue their circular firing squad in the aftermath of Biden’s debate collapse.” - Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles

Trump Bump: President Trump’s Campaign Raised $141 Million in Massive May

Today, President Trump’s Campaign, together with the RNC announced a massive $141 million fundraising haul in May, a response of support for President Trump while facing the sham Biden trial and verdict that outraged and motivated Americans from every walk of life. This overwhelming financial success is the result of over 2 million donations, which came in at an average of $70.27. In addition to the staggering amount, 25% of May's donor's were brand new to the 2024 campaign making the month the best so far this year. Additionally,  organizations supporting President Trump raised another $150 million in May.  Taken together, the campaign and other Trump supporting organizations raised nearly $300 million during the month of May.

“We are moved by the outpouring of support for President Donald J. Trump. The American people saw right through Crooked Joe Biden’s rigged trial, and sent Biden and Democrats a powerful message – the REAL verdict will come on November 5th,” said Trump Campaign senior advisers Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles. “President Trump raised $141 million this month because Americans remember the roaring economy, secure border, and peace through strength at home and abroad under Donald J. Trump, and we will return to prosperity and success when he is re-elected in November.”

This total comes after the campaign raised $53 million online in the 24 hours - 37.6% OF THE TOTAL HAUL AND MORE THAN $2 MILLION PER HOUR - since Crooked Joe Biden and his New York henchmen secured their rigged verdict in hopes of swaying the election.

“The American people saw the Biden Trials for what they are – a sham attempt to keep President Trump away from voters and confined in a courtroom. It didn’t work because voters understand the clear contrast between President Trump’s record of success and Joe Biden’s failures,” said RNC Chairman Michael Whatley and Co-Chairman Lara Trump. “Unfortunately for Democrats, their rigged political operation has backfired in a historic way, and Republicans are in a stronger position than to FIRE Crooked Joe Biden and Make America Great Again by electing President Trump on November 5.”

Trump Shatters Fundraising Records After Rigged Biden Trial Verdict

Today, the Trump campaign announced a record shattering small dollar fundraising haul following the sham Biden Trial verdict totaling $34.8 million – nearly double the biggest day ever recorded for the Trump campaign on the WinRed platform. Crooked Joe Biden and the Democrats with their election interference political witch hunt have awakened the MAGA movement like never before.

"From just minutes after the sham trial verdict was announced, our digital fundraising system was overwhelmed with support, and despite temporary delays online because of the amount of traffic, President Trump raised $34.8 million dollars from small dollar donors. Not only was the amount historic, but 29.7% of yesterday's donor's were brand new donors to the WinRed platform. President Trump and our campaign are immensely grateful from this outpouring of support from patriots across our country. President Trump is fighting to save our nation and November 5th is the day Americans will deliver the real verdict." - Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles, Trump Campaign Senior Advisors
