VIDEO: Young Americans Outline the Stakes of the
Election for Our Future and Our Planet
Americans warn of the devastating impacts of a second
Trump term on our climate and our futureCHICAGO – Tonight, on the final night of the Democratic National Convention, the American people heard from young advocates who submitted videos thanking Vice President Kamala Harris for her strong action to protect our climate. Over the past four years, the Biden-Harris administration has taken more climate action than any administration in history. These young Americans know their future depends on Vice President Harris and Governor Walz continuing that work.
The new videos feature Mariah Rosensweig and Gabriel Nagel, passionate climate activists from Denver, CO who led advocacy efforts in their school district alongside other young advocates.

“Kamala Harris approaches climate policy through the eyes of the future generation, like mine”
The convention is a chance for Democrats across the country to speak directly to the public about our record of accomplishments and the future that we’re fighting for. There’s no one better to tell that story than people like Mariah and Gabriel, whose futures hinge on this election. The videos featured throughout our convention allow Americans to see themselves reflected in our programming.
Democratic National Convention Spotlights Everyday Americans Who Benefited From Student Loan Forgiveness
CHICAGO – On the final night of the Democratic National Convention, the American people heard from families whose lives have been changed by student loan forgiveness.
From day one, President Biden and Vice President Harris have worked to make sure higher education is accessible to the middle class, not a barrier to opportunity. The Harris-Walz ticket will continue to build on the progress the administration has made to expand student loan forgiveness and ensure every American has the ability to save for a home, start a family, or open a business.
In a new video shown tonight, Pennsylvania social worker and AFSCME member Kelli Gray and her daughter spoke about Vice President Harris’s commitment to creating hope and possibility for people like them. After graduating from college and helping her daughter pay for college, Gray faced $350,000 in student loans. She thought she would always be in debt and never be able to buy a home. Thanks to the Biden-Harris administration’s fixes to Public Service Loan Forgiveness, her loans were forgiven and she was able to purchase a home.

“As a single mother, I knew I wanted my daughters to have a better life than I did,” said Kelli Gray. “With this loan forgiveness, I can plan for my future…Thank you Vice President Harris and the entire administration.”
The convention also welcomed the Fitts family to the stage tonight. Raleigh educator Eric Fitts is one of the millions of Americans whose loans were forgiven thanks to the Biden-Harris administration. The Biden-Harris administration has approved billions of dollars in student debt relief for millions of Americans. The Democratic National Convention is telling the story of how Kamala Harris and Tim Walz will continue fighting for the people, for our freedoms, and for our future — so that millions of Americans have the opportunity to not just get by, but get ahead.
Final Night of Democratic National Convention Features Gun Violence Survivors and Gun Safety Advocates
Americans heard about the Harris-Walz commitment to defending the right to be safe in our homes, schools, and communities from former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, as well as Congresswoman Lucy McBath; Abbey Clements of Connecticut, a second grade teacher who survived the Sandy Hook School shooting; Kim Rubio of Texas, whose daughter was killed in the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas; Melody McFadden of South Carolina, who lost her mother and sister in fatal shootings; and Edgar Vilchez of Illinois, a Chicago student and gun safety activist.
Kamala Harris has spent her entire career working to keep Americans safe, and as Vice President, she oversees the first-ever White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention, leading the Biden-Harris Administration’s efforts to end the nation’s gun violence epidemic. In June 2022, President Biden and Vice President Harris helped pass the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act – the first major federal gun safety bill to be signed into law in nearly 30 years. And under Vice President Harris’s leadership of the Administration’s gun safety work, she has helped advance dozens of executive actions to keep dangerous weapons and repeat shooters off our streets, provide law enforcement with more tools and resources to reduce gun violence, and more.
In Governor Walz, Vice President Harris has chosen a running mate that shares her vision for a safer America. As Governor of Minnesota, Governor Walz signed major gun safety legislation into law, including universal background checks and a red flag law that allows law enforcement to intervene when someone is at high risk of injuring themselves or others with a firearm.
As Americans have watched the Democratic National Convention this week, they have seen the clear contrast between the Harris-Walz vision for a safer, more secure America and NRA-backed Donald Trump who only looks out for himself.
