President Joe Biden's withdrawal on July 21, less than a month before the convention, created uncertainty for convention planners, and there was even some talk of an open convention.  However, Vice President Kamala Harris quickly consolidated support and became the nominee.  Mindful of the 1968 Convention, there were concerns that planned protests over Israel and Gaza could become violent and disruptive.  Another challenge for planners was having two major venues, United Center and McCormick Place.  Under the leadership of Minyon Moore and Alex Hornbrook, the convention team's work paid off.  One participant, who has now attended ten conventions, said the 2024 Convention "certainly set a new high-bar for being well-programed and well-run."  Below is a sketch of the DNCC organization; it has a lot of holes and imperfections but hopefully does give a sense some of the people who helped put the convention together, the work required, and the experience they brought to the effort.  To suggest improvements, please email action08 @ gmail.
