Harris for President
September 21, 2024
Statement from Harris-Walz Campaign Chair Jen O’Malley Dillon on CNN Debate
“The American people deserve another opportunity to see Vice President Kamala Harris and Donald Trump debate before they cast their ballots. It would be unprecedented in modern history for there to just be one general election debate. Debates offer a unique chance for voters to see the candidates side by side and take stock of their competing visions for America.“Vice President Harris is ready for another opportunity to share a stage with Donald Trump, and she has accepted CNN’s invitation to a debate on October 23. Donald Trump should have no problem agreeing to this debate. It is the same format and setup as the CNN debate he attended and said he won in June, when he praised CNN’s moderators, rules, and ratings.
“We look forward to Vice President Harris again having the opportunity in the CNN debate to show her command of the issues and why it’s time to turn the page on Donald Trump and chart a new way forward for America.”

DNC Launches New Visibility Campaign Calling Out Trump for Being A Chicken As He Attempts to Dodge Another Debate
As Donald Trump rallies in Indiana, Pennsylvania tonight, he’ll be greeted by a special message from the DNC calling him out for being a chicken as he dodges a second debate with Vice President Kamala Harris. Trump has previously said he’ll debate “anytime, anywhere” and now, in true chicken fashion, is claiming the October 23rd debate is “too late.”A quick reminder: In 2020, there was a presidential debate on October 22nd.
All of this is no surprise: On the debate stage in Philadelphia earlier this month, Vice President Harris stood up to Trump’s tired playbook of lies and divisiveness and held him accountable for his Project 2025 agenda, just as she has stood up against crooks and fraudsters her entire career.
DNC Deputy Communications Director Abhi Rahman released the following statement:
“It wasn’t so long ago that Donald Trump boasted he’d debate ‘anytime, anywhere,’ but after Vice President Kamala Harris held him to account for his failures as president and dangerous second term agenda in their first debate, it’s no surprise Trump’s turned chicken – too scared to face the music again. The American people deserve another opportunity to hear Vice President Harris and Donald Trump lay out their starkly different visions for our country side-by-side before Election Day. Instead, Trump is busy hiding from the American people because he knows they’ll reject his Project 2025 agenda to hike taxes on the middle class, ban abortion nationwide, and use the federal government to assert virtually unchecked power over our daily lives. The American people deserve so much better – and they’ll get it with future President Kamala Harris.”
