Attention Readers: This page is A WORK IN PROGRESS: it  needs work, but hopefully will be of some use
President Joe Biden announced his re-election in a three-minute video released on April 25, 2023.  He faced little primary opposition, his most significant challengers being U.S. Rep. Dean Phillips (MN) and the uncommitted movement (over Israel's war in Gaza), and he coasted through the primaries winning huge percentages.  Meanwhile the campaign had built up a sizeable organization in Wilmington and in key states.  Biden's bid came to an end following his poor performance in the early debate with Trump.  He finally bowed out on July 21, 2024, and Vice President Kamala Harris quickly consolidated support and assumed the mantle of presumptive nominee the next day (>).  Harris for President inherited the Biden for President organization.  Most of the Biden staffers remained in place.  Harris added some loyalists and some Obama campaign veterans in the upper levels of the campaign, resulting in what Axios' Alex Thompson described as "a diffuse 'Frankenstein' team with multiple power centers."  Harris for President continued to add staff in the remaining months of the campaign, and their work was complimented by the efforts of the Democratic National Committee as well as the Democratic National Convention Committee (DNCC organization).  Harris also had her official staff at the Office of the Vice President, headed by chief of staff Lorraine Voles. And in August (first reported by CNN on Aug. 19), Harris selected Yohannes Abraham, who also headed Biden's transition, to lead her transition team.  In the analysis following Harris's defeat, commentators pointed fingers of blame in all directions including at the campaign.  Harris and the DNC raised over $1 billion, yet the campaign somehow finished in debt.  Nonetheless, a lot of people put in a lot of hard work into the campaign, and as the saying goes "hindsight is 20:20."
